He would have to be the featured back for it to happen, which I don't think will happen. I think he is still going to be used as the all around player and our workhorse will be someone else.

Source: #Browns met with #Cuse's Doug Marrone again. Yesterday, looked like job was Kelly's. Today Browns trying to figure out their choice

    Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet

Asked two sources whether the #Browns like Chip Kelly or Doug Marrone more: "They are deciding." Was told neck-&-neck. #Staytuned

The question I'd be asking is who would leave from Chip Kelly's staff? I know Phil Knight's influence is a huge recruiting tool, but there must be some excellent recruiters on his staff too,... just look at how few locals were on the roster this season -

I've never seen a state school that's so consistently dominant in football but only has that few local players every season. Hell, if you look at the LSU roster, most of the team is from the state or nearby areas.

Dang. Sweet deal. He'd be a fool to turn that down.

So Cleveland is restarting its HC search while Chip Kelly must decide whether to go to Philadelphia or remain at Oregon.

    Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet

Push coming from #Oregon booster Phil Knight, I hear. 1 factor pulling Chip Kelly back to Oregon. Eagles, Browns regrouping. No decisions

    Mary Kay Cabot ‏@MaryKayCabot

Chip Kelly appears to be leaning toward returning to #Oregon and not to #Browns or #Eagles, source told PD, but nothing confirmed yet.

Chip woke up this morning with a severed duck head in his bead. An offer he can't refuse from Phil Knight.

He also finally realized it was the freakin' Browns, a team that honestly hasn't been relevant since the 60s?

You don't leave your team in a mess! You stick, you're the coach, you're the sole reason the NCAA is here! Be a man, WIN THE DAY, practice what you preach! That's it!

Pelton backing off of his tweet...says he fell for a fake account.

Looks like CLE doesn't like Chip going to interview w/PHI ,and Buffalo already got their college coach from powerhouse Syracuse. Looks like PHI or Eugene.

    Ambivalence reigns.

Chip would have been a moron to take the Brown's job........but the Philly job is rather more understandable. I still think he will pull a Steve Spurrier and go down in flames.

What if Chip reconsiders and stays? Sticking around to take care of unfinished business...and clean up the NCAA mess he made...would speak well of the man. While he is not irreplacable, he would be tough to replace, and it could seriously set the program back.

OTOH, part of me doubts that Chip will ever win a Natty. Maybe his leaving would be in the long term interest of the program!

Gah! I am to the point I am not sure I even have an opinion anymore.

Why would Chip want to go coach the loser Browns when he could stay with the Ducks and compete for national titles? The university can afford to give him a raise.
