http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/b...eal-article-1.1234685?localLinksEnabled=false I'd trade Aldridge and our scrubs (luke/myers/nolan/etc). And I'd seriously consider this even without and extension for Dwight.
Without an extension for Dwight? Even before he came to Hollywood, Dwight's had some sort of weird fame complex. There's no way he'd re-sign. Trading away the second best asset you have for a player that's going to do nothing but help you to a first round exit and give you cap relief would be too knee-jerk. I don't even see why the Lakers would do that. It'd make more sense to them to pacify Howard than bring in a player that's essentially a poor man's Pau Gasol circa 2010 but without the passing ability.
I'd rather just renounce everyone and offer him a max contract this summer then go for a one year rental on a player who may have lost a lot of athleticism because of surgery.
That's not permanent. He came back earlier than the doctors had planned, so he's still recovering. If we can possibly get him after he signs a new contract, we should do whatever it takes.
Ya, I guess getting him without an extension probably is not gonna happen. But LA for Dwight (with extension) is something I'd seriously consider.
I'm actually surprised at how little respect Dwight is getting. He's still putting up ridiculous numbers with a bad back. I'm finding it hard to believe that we wouldn't trade a top 5 PF for the #1 C who's a defensive stalwart, and would solve nearly all our interior issues.
Even with his bad back, I'd be ok with trading Aldridge for him (with an extension). Hickson and Howard in the front court would easily be the best rebounding tandem in the league, cleaning up lots of misses by Lillard/Batum/Matthews. No way I'd do it without the extension though. I don't really see how it helps the Lakers though, other than shuffle more deck chairs on the Titanic.
No. Do everything you can to sign him this summer. Howard Aldridge Batum Mathews Lillard That's a complete team right there.
I can't see how they would play well together. Dwight would be better off playing with Babbitt than JJ. Less chance of a double team using two bigs. LMA and Dwight on the other hand would be a great combo.
All things being equal then yes of course you make that swap. Few reasons why they are not though 1) its the Lakers, never help them out or bail them out of a bad situation. 2) Dho is a prima dona and a potential cancer to our chemistry. 3) Dho is potentially dealing with lingering health issues. 4) Dho is 1 year rental. 5) LMA is a bad ass in his own right and seems to like Portland (at least for now). 6) it still probably would not be an even swap, LA would want more than LMA for DHo. Just say NO do DHO.
