With goaltender PATRIK BARTOSAK re-joining the Red Deer Rebels after playing in the World Junior Hockey Championships, the team was looking to start a three-game eastern road trip on the right skate. Didn't happen: they dropped a 5-2 decision to the Broncos.

    First period

The Broncos got on the board first midway through when Adam Lowry the first period and extended his scoring streak to 18 games.

MATT BELLERIVE fired a wrist-shot from the top of circle to make it 1-1.

    Second period

The Broncos made it 2-1 eight minutes into the middle frame when Richard Nedomlel took a shot from the point that went through some traffic. Then, at 13:16, the Broncos went up 3-1: Reese Scarlett found a rebound to beat Bartosak. Bellerive, who was stopped on a breakaway, notched his second of the game with 2:44 remaining.

    Third period

Down 3-2 MATT DUMBA rang one right smack off the post in the first minute of the period. But then on a 5-on-3, Jay Merkley scored to make it 4-2. Colby Cave added an empty netter with 1:10 left.
