    I don't think I like JJ long term at the center position and I think Aldridge needs to stay at PF. We all talk about the "Buy low sell high" phrase and I think JJ is the perfect example.

    I may be the only one who feels like this but: Other than being physically imposing sometimes, I just wasn't that impressed with Oden.

    His post moves needed a lot of work, his shooting ability was not as good as Meyers Leonard for example, and he was often out of place defensively/slow to react. He was well-promoted not highly-skilled. When I think of skilled centers I think of Sabonis and Walton.

    Frankly, I believe Oden lacks the work ethic to reach his potential and the same lack of preparedness got him in trouble physically in the first place and will likely keep him from having an effective comeback. He just strikes me as someone who would rather be playing video games or drinking beer in a club than doing the hard work to get his body ready for the NBA pounding.

    Let the bashing begin.....

    In 2009-2010, when Oden played 21 games, his per-36-minute stats were 16.7 PPG, 12.8 RPG, and 3.4 BPG. He shot 60% from the field and 76% from the line. His PER was 23.1 and all other advanced statistics were impressive as well.

    I agree. Was not impressed. Always in foul trouble and getting stripped in the post.

    If he averaged 36 minutes and averaged those numbers, I would've been impressed. But he didn't and he didn't.

    I don't think anyone here would say that Greg's career as a Trail Blazer was impressive, I certainly wouldn't (didn't). If stats mean absolutely nothing to you, you have no reason to be impressed. If you understand and lend credence to the stats, they're fucking impressive.

    Anyone who thinks Greg Oden wasn't a dominant player when he played doesn't know the game, or is literally living in denial. Look at his advanced stats, PER etc.

    I don't get it....Why are people talking stats? Was his career impressive? Hell no. Was he impressive in the small sample we saw? Absolutely. Nothing to do with stats....This is all about seeing what the guy was capable of doing, and understanding what his potential was. In that, it was a very impressive career, nothing to do with stats, and deserving of interest in his return.

    He looked pretty good the 2 weeks or so prior to him playing his last game. Sadly, don't know that he ever gets back to that level.

    People may be mis-attributing being impressed with his play with being impressed with his potential, and this goes both ways. He had some great games, and absolutely changed the game when he was in there. That he only averaged 24 minutes a game was tough for us, but for those 24 minutes, he was pretty damn unstoppable. That's the pain of it.
