It's no secret I dislike LMA, so I did a little digging to see whether his scoring leads to wins. I also looked at Nic, since he's my favorite player, just to have a comparison. I don't know how meaningful this is, but I thought it was interesting. Here goes... When LMA scores 20+ we have won 10 times and lost 7 times. When Nic scores 20+ we have won 9 times and lost 3 times. When LMA is our leading scorer we have won 5 times and lost 7 times. When Nic is our leading scorer we have won 8 times and lost 4 times. That's all...
That's all huh? And what is that supposed to mean exactly? How did Lillard play in those losses? Was Matthews any good those nights, did Hickson shit the bed, did our bench do anything at all? There's a helluva lot more to wins and losses than comparing your favorite and least favorite players' production.
What are you trying to prove? Most of the times Nic scores 20+ is when he catches fire from deep. He's much less of a threat to to score than Aldridge, which is affirmed by the defensive attention that opposing teams put on both players.
Like I said - I just found it interesting. I'm not trying to draw conclusions from this, just figured I'd post it for discussion. I haven't looked at the numbers for the league, but it seems that typically your best player leads you to wins with his scoring - so far this season that doesn't seem to be the case with LMA.
If you take Wes out of the equation, just take a look at our W/L record for the season. This was a pretty typical night for Luke (well, except he got more minutes/shots than usual - but his impact was about normal).
often teams go to their marquee player in blowouts or when they are far behind, look at kobe, the lakers suck when he scores 35+, because he does it when he has to, when the rest of the team is laying an egg common sense but go ahead and "not draw any conclusions"
If the OP isn't trying to draw any conclusions from this And the rest of us certainly aren't I'm wondering why this thread was even made then. Seems like we all agree it means nothing.
The difference is we're a winning team and they're a losing team. The leading scorer on a losing team is going to, uh, lead the team in scoring on their way to losses.
Thank you. I have no problem with people disagreeing with me - I understand that my views on LMA aren't popular. But I really hate personal attacks over stupid disagreements. I can't say I'll never make a derogatory comment about someone, but I try my best not to. If I do, please call me on it.
wtf are you talking about... seriously, learn the game, i dont even care if you are a LMA hater, doesnt matter to me at all...what you are saying is idiotic
Why the negativity? It's Batum and Lillard's team but having LMA as our 3rd best player is s great privilege (sp?)
