http://news.yahoo.com/hill-injury-adds-mounting-lakers-woes-085643632--nba.html I'm happy to see the Lakers losing, and happy that they've lost their best backup player for the year, but what the hell is a "sixth defeat on the bounce"? Is this some new expression I've never heard of?
The best news is they don't have their draft pick. If they lose Dwight Howard I will laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh.
Thanks. Perhaps the writer is a Brit. I've never seen that expression used in American sports reporting.
"On the bounce" connotes something temporary, and implies that the King is taking a nap or a leak and shall rise again soon, just like the South, for which we're still waiting for another secession. Sitting on the edges of their seats, Laker fans do not have a 150-year attention span. They expect an overnight 180 degree turnaround any day now.
