7'1", 1.3 blocks, 45% FG, 73% FT, TS% 50.4, PER 15.67 http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=cyrrkk8 I actually think they would do this too since they will be tring to get Bynum long term. How does this make us better? First, I think his numbers will increase significantly in Portland, playing along side Aldridge. Hawes will give us at least 3-5 solid starting years, with Leanord developing as the first big off the bench. He will still get some solid minutes. This move should get our defense up BIG TIME! Thoughts?
I'd be ok trading for Hawes, but wouldn't likely give Hickson for him. I'd take him with our cap space in the offseason, or if they want to dump him to save money, would give expirings.
If he returns and plays well; then I think they will sign him long term. They gave up a lot to get him, so they need some return off their investment. Also, Bynum (when healthy) is one of the better centers in the league.
I would love to bring Hawes here. You'd think, though, that if Philly were going to shop him, they'd be able to get a bit more than a 4-month rental, even one as seemingly productive as Hickson.
But they could try and intice Hickson to stay, since they have the cap space to keep him. And why wouldn't Hickson stay? They would be able to give him a decent contract and he would start for them at his natural position. He's also young enough to grown with their team.
Hawes would be a horrible fit next to Aldridge. Both of them love playing 15 feet away from the basket and aren't great rebounders for their position.
1. So 2. Fucking 3. Tired I liked Hawes as a target last summer, but I think Leonard has more of a game to compliment LMA on a front-line, as does Freeland. Hawes is kind of a finesse center, which isn't bad, but not ideal alongside LMA.
Hickson has no trade value. We need to stop with the trade proposals because we will never get anything remotely close to what he's worth. Our best bet is to try to sign him to a reasonable deal and then trade him if it's necessary next season.
...this trade looks much better! JJ + Babbs <----> Dunleavy + Sanders http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=b4kge5d
*sigh* all I can remember is Hawes being totally owned by Greg Oden in that pre-season game against Sacramento. I wish I had a selective memory.
