What about this: Northwest: Portland Seattle Denver Utah Golden State Southwest: Los Angeles x2 Phoenix San Antonio Houston Central: Minnesota OKC Memphis Dallas New Orleans
Bay Area media are saying it's a "done deal" and the Maloofs will get $525m. They also have to pay the city of Sacramento some sort of fees, right? Factor in the arena cost, this whole process will cost this group a better part of a billion. BILLION.
More tweets that the Maloof/Hansen deal is done. So can we just dump all news organizations and rely solely on twitter? It seems like the news organizations just regurgitate twitter feeds anyway.
Derek Belt @derekbelt 10 Jan Isaiah Thomas told source the Kings were told after practice today the selling of the team was true. Thomas: "Deal is done." #Sonics

It's a soap opera...now a local buyer has supposedly emerged and the team may stay in Sac. Glad I'm a Blazer fan just observing this because it's got to be ripping the hearts out of Seattle fans.
Seattle needs a team but the only way to get a team anymore is to steal one. There will be no expansion for many years (if anything there will be contraction). It sucks because the King's fans don't deserve this just like the Sonic's fans didn't at the time.
The difference the old case being corporate greed down the line and in this case it's just that the Maloofs aren't able to pay the bills. But you're right, either way it sucks for all the fans. Can blame that one on the NBA and how they've gigantified everything. Well, in that sense you could blame the system even, how large does the NBA really have to be? How much do these people need to be paid, isn't there a line from where the fan bases can support the overhead? I guess Sacramento is below that line. Meh, economics...kind of a bummer it's such an integral part of sports.
Agreed; and it would be a sucker bet too. There's no way Sacto can right that ship while also spending so much on a team worth half its asking price.
So sac has six weeks to put togethor a proposal. Seems like an awful lot of time to get togethor a proposal when there is already a record breaking one on the table. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
What kind of deal can they do when the Kings are 200 million in the hole for this season? Now theres local groups that can save the Maloof family? Sounds like they just came out of the wood work. Read more here: http://www.sacbee.com/2013/01/16/5117611/ailene-voisin-how-the-maloofs.html Sounds like the town has more investors than I thought. This is like a soap opra !!!
Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine Just going online now: Maloofs have struck deal to sell 65 percent of Kings to Chris Hansen group in Seattle for $525 million, sources say
Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine Kings deal to Seattle group still requires formal NBA ratification but Hansen group intends to file for relocation by March 1 if approved
Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine ESPN sources say no agreement yet reached on remaining 35 percent of Kings shares, which are held by minority investors, NOT Maloofs
