Don't follow the Ducks as much as some here. Now that Chip has decided to stay, are there some recruits who are leaning towards Oregon? Any real notable 5 star players going to commit to Oregon (I know Tyner has)? I saw the ranking of recruits and Oregon is way down on the list at 41 with only 13 commits. Many teams are ranked above them including teams like Vanderbuilt, Northwestern, Rutgers, Utah and obviously many others. Is this normal or are the Ducks having a tough time recruiting players?
Oregon are mostly very strong closers, and very picky on who they offer. Percentage wise they are on par with other schools (verbal commitments vs amount of offers) Most rankings take class size along with stars. If you look at average stars on rivals Oregon is sitting right at 18. With finished classes Oregon's Median is probably around #15 in recruiting. Heck even with Oregon's class with two 5* players, they only were "ranked #9" which is good for Oregon in eyes of national recruiters, but 2 of those high recruits (Blackmon and Sumler, are no longer with the team, and Mariota was only 3*) I'm not sure the effect on Chip coming back another year, but I'm sure it cant hurt
Today is the last day of the holiday dead period where recruits can't take Official Visits and coaches can't travel to meet them at their homes either. Because of this not much has happened anywhere the past few weeks but thats about to end. Several prospects (committed to other schools and uncommitted) are headed in this weekend for OVs. This is usually the busiest month of recruiting at Oregon and this year looks to be no different As Wheels relayed, class ratings factor in the top 20 commits. Since Oregon isn't expected to sign 20 kids this year because they aren't losing many Seniors and don't have the roster space, their rating will probably suffer some. Besides RB where they've 2 top kids committed, there really isn't a glaring hole on the roster where you'd project true freshman to contribute much next season. Given this, I think their recruiting is doing fine. Next year they'll be needing to pull in a bigger class because of all those who will be graduating and I expect that need will help them pull in more high profile recruits STOMP
guess that depends on who gets hired, most likely the assistants have been in the rooms with these kids more than chip has
It will hurt us some this year but we didn't have a great class anyway. I think if we win next year with Helfrich and avoid any major sanctions our recruiting will be fine going forward.
lol You realize that most of the kids that Chip coached to the championship game weren't even his recruits? You have such a hardon for the Ducks it's really quite pathetic.
Seriously though Tlong, why do you spend so much time trolling on this forum? I hate the Trojans, Lakers, Yankees, Cowboys, Seahawks.... I spend zero time on their team forums. Not one second of my time is devoted to their shitty franchises. Don't you have anything better to do with your time?
This is essentially just a sub-forum of the greater Blazer forum. And I like clowning you guys. But don't worry, you won't catch me posting on something like E-Schmuck.
here is a link to the recruits he inherited when he came on as Oregon's OC in 2007... of course many of those starred in that NCG game still lol-ing or are you putting on the sad clown makeup? STOMP
Ducks have been active. Last week they got a great addition in Devon Allen (who was set to go to Stanford or UCLA) and in the last week: Devon Allen WR 6-1, 190 4.5 40! 4 star and Track star Elijah George OL 6-4 240 2 star from Las Vegas Juwaan Williams Ath 6-1 180 3 star from GA
19 days later Oregon has received 4 more verbals to put them up to 17 in the class and ranked #22 currently by rivals. Again in their system the highest rated 20 commits in a class are factored in the rating. The sudden jump in UO's class's ranking was expected as they filled up. Btw... lots of rumorama that OLineman Hunt is leaning this way http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/teamrank/2013/all/all STOMP
