what the fuck is MTV BUCKWILD? EDIT: Ah, it's a reality show about people being idiots in Appalachia. Why is it in the "CABLE NEWS RACE"?
Isn't FOX's key demo the blue-haired crowd? I think 18-49 is the money demo. Is FOX leading that one too?
at least FNC is now restricting appearances by their only personality more egotistical and annoying than Hannity, dick morris. one of the smartest things they've ever done.
I don't know why we really care. If what the public thought was worth watching on TV meant anything meaningful, we'd be in a lot more trouble as a society than we already are.
I don't care to defend the list. It is what it is. It's only one day's worth, so it doesn't mean that on the other days the other programs do better than Fox.
Even that ideal graph would not include the fact that some Basic Cable packages include Fox, but not MSNBC. In some places, only those with spare money to pay extra can watch MSNBC.
CABLE NEWS RACE WEDS JAN 16 2013 FOXNEWS O'REILLY 3,356,000 DISC AMISH MAFIA 3,200,000 FOXNEWS FIVE 2,323,000 FOXNEWS HANNITY 2,276,000 FOXNEWS BAIER 2,235,000 FOXNEWS SHEP 1,813,000 CMDY DAILY SHOW 1,790,000 FOXNEWS GRETA 1,637,000 CMDY COLBERT 1,360,000 MSNBC MADDOW 1,096,000 MSNBC SCHULTZ 1,020,000 MSNBC HARDBALL 875,000 MSNBC SHARPTON 839,000 MSNBC O'DONNELL 831,000 CNN COOPER 604,000 CNN PIERS 592,000
Looks like your guys are on top. Congrats. Are you pissed that they signed Dennis Kucinich to a multi-year deal. Why is Amish Mafia included in a list of cable news shows?
I don't make the list. I suspect the Amish Mafia is listed so you get an idea of how the CABLE news programs compare with other cable programming. These aren't my guys, FWIW. I watch way more MSNBC and CNN than I do Fox. I'm not averse to watching any of the channels... Kucinich? I always liked him and thought he's a man of principle.
Presumably just for reference, to show exactly how relevant the news programs are to the lives of the average American citizen.
back to the OP's point...did they just outright lie? Mix up "overall" with "one particular demographic"? And if so, why are you reading/quoting them?
No, the OP quote was correct. Fox led MSNBC long before the elections. In the months leading up to election day, all news networks gained ratings. After the elections, Fox lost most of its gains as expected, but the surprise is that MSNBC held onto its gains. Now, Fox leads, but by a lot less. And even that smaller lead was no lead back in the early December quote.
