It's quite possible. But we could not afford to wage wars for oil. We could not afford to allow our businesses to outsource labor to the third world. We could not allow corporations to avoid paying taxes on profits earned overseas.

Eliminate these three disfunctions of America and your wish will be granted.

Phil makes over 70% of his wealth from endorsements, and the rest from playing an old man's game.

He's not familiar with the term "hard work".

    I agree.

I'd say Oregon has too many Californians as well (Bend was terrible a few years ago, especially, but not sure after the housing crash, as I don't visit Bend as often either).

I would fucking shit if I had to pay 63% of my earnings per year. I'm bitching at the 43% I'm paying now.

Think about it this way. If you could afford it; would you be fine with paying 63% of your earnings?

In perspective... Let's say you make 10k gross per month. Your cost of living is around 3.5k. The government says "Hey you can afford 63% taxes because your cost of living is only 35% of your total earnings." You still have 2% savings of your wages.

I'd rather make 50 million and pay 60% than 50k and pay 30%, so yes I'd be fine with it.

Part of your cost of living would result in deductions, thereby lowering your tax liability.

At $10K, that would obviously suck. But if I'm making millions of dollars (let alone for doing practically nothing), I wouldn't be shitting myself and bitching to the public while many others are struggling to make a living.

Another thing. Lefty should not have apologized for his comments. No one should have to pay that % in taxes.

What would you rather take in gross? 270k or 220k?

Gerald Dipardu or whatever his name is moving from france for the same reason. the tax hike didn't even go through but he sees the writing on the wall. If you think these hikes are the final resolutions to solve a problem, they're not...its just the first step.

They're going to keep on going up and up and its going to get to a point where its not even worth working or investing, because most of it will be for nothing.

There isn't much you can write off when you make that amount of money. I have 3 houses and it does very little to my bottom line. There is a ceiling of amount of taxes you can deduct. I can't even get child credit for dependents; even though I pay over $6k per month in child support; having 50% custody of my kids.

At $10K/month, as your example cited? At a gross of $10K, you're doing something wrong if you're losing out on that many deductions.

I'm pretty sure your example, and as the tax situation applies to you, would be comparining apples and oranges. I'm strictly talking the parameters of the example provided, you've switched to talk about your personal stuff, which is very different from the example provided.

my point is, that phil mickleson, the "everyman" of the pga, who makes his money off endorsing things to middle class people, should probably stop whining about only bringing home 20 million dollars a year, lest he be viewed as out of touch and damage his pitchman earnings

    I don't make 10k a month. I make much more than that.

And yeah I switched it up to talk about personal. Sorry if it confused.

Exactly. He's being given free money just to endorse a product and say he uses it. Said companies sell products to people who care that their favorite athlete uses the product. So, he's being taxed on free money. If it weren't for us consuming his products, he wouldn't be making the money, and he wouldn't be taxed on that money he's not making. So now, he's bitching to essentially the same people that pay him.

Its not free money. He earned that by finding a unique niche he was good at and turning that into a marketable skill.

If it were truly free money, you or I could make the same without doing any additional work.
