"Lefty" Bitching About Taxes

Perhaps it is superfluous banter. But he should keep his mouth shut on such matters. He opened himself up to the criticism by opening his mouth. It ain't that hard to see it.

There is nothing wrong with commenting about him in a negative way. I just don't understand why it matter enough to you that you spent an entire afternoon on it. This thread was 4 pages long before I commented on it. Clearly people are upset. I just don't understand why. It's OK for you to say things about high tax rates, but not those who are impacted by it? Or, does a small part of you not want to have the "rich" humanized at all, which is Obama's plan for the low-information masses.

Well, because he really didn't say anything really offensive. Its an overreaction to nothing.

 

I just was defending my right to call him stupid for opening his mouth. He did something dumb. So I responded to every post that disagreed. Big deal.

Other than that, I'm sitting here and can't go anywhere after having a minor surgical procedure. So I'd rather banter here than watch TV.

It wasn't necessarily offensive. It was just plain-ass dumb to open his mouth about it. Hell, if he wanted to even bitch politics, policies, taxes in general - be my guest. But complaining specifically about his own personal self, his personal problem with taxes, making it all about him.... that's where he made himself look dumb. Open it up and make it more general, make it about the American People, and people would be like, "Oh, Phil. Thank you for saying something. What the hell are we doing? We love you. Preach on, Brother." So the avenue he took.... if he wanted sympathy.... just the wrong avenue.

 

I'm just wondering when "my taxes are really high and could be cheaper somewhere else" became an offensive thing to say.

Or, are only we poor folk and rich politicians allowed to go on TV and bitch about rich people? Because that's what I find offensive. Obama gets off on dividing people, yet he isn't impacted by any tax hikes. Plus, he seeks out every tax deduction he can find, which makes him a huge hypocrite.

 

So in an interview about him, his career, and his life, he isn't supposed to talk about his life? If I'm a rich person at this point, I wouldn't say a fucking word to the media anymore, because people like you completely overreact to it.

 

The apology came after he had time to reflect on his commets and talk to his agent and others. If he didn't care about his comments, he wouldn't take the time to apologize about them . . . that is just common sense.

And a person who is so into his money is going to be taking action that will give him the best chance of getting more money. Money means something to Phil, which means bad press is something that means something to Phil. Whether the bad press is justified or not, he still recieved bad press over this.

This was a calculated apology put together by "team lefty" . . . thinking it was anything less is not understanding the millions of dollars that has been invested into his name and image.

 

Quite a country when saying you pay 62% in taxes and are considering moving out of your state causes such outrage. I fully expect those of you bitching about it to not take any tax deductions for your 2012 taxes, and to throw in another 5% just because of the country and state you live in right now.

Personally I have no problem with what Phil said, but he should expect that people will make judgements about him based on his statements.

Willing to complain to the media and saying he is going to move to save a percentage on taxes . . . Phil why not move to another country where taxes are lower? Oh yeah, you made your fortune through golf and the American people, better stay, it will generate more money for you to stat. You know, being the American People's Champ and all

 

No shit. Part of it is that people here lack the ability. Most people didn't say they were outraged. It was more, "Phil should just keep his mouth shut."

That's what I find most funny. I had people arguing with me all day because I thought Phil should just be wise enough to keep his mouth shut.

 

And there'd be plenty of people who would mis-read. My real point is he should have just kept his mouth shut. I never disagreed with what he said. Just figured he should be smarter than what he says in public. Did you even read the thread before jumping in with your inane banter?

I don't think he understands if he was a citizen of another country; he wouldn't be charged tax like a U.S. citizen.
