The Seattle group purchasing the Sacramento Kings has begun discussing whether to target R.C. Buford and Larry Bird to run its franchise, according to sources. The new owners want to completely redo the franchise's infrastructure. Current GM Geoff Petrie will not be retained and is expected to retire at season's end, sources said. Bird left the Indiana Pacers in the spring to take care of health issues but had planned to return in 2013 or 2014.
