Shoulder surgery has sidelined Chris Weidman since July but the default top contender at middleweight hasn't taken his sights of Anderson Silva. Weidman is ready to fight again this summer, supposing things go as planned, and is pressuring the UFC to book that fight. With other contenders Alan Belcher and Michael Bisping falling by the wayside, Weidman seems like the only choice at the moment barring a groundswell of support for Hector Lombard or Cung Le. Weidman, 28, says Silva is avoiding fighting him because he has a particular set of skills that make him a nightmare for the 37-year old champion. Weidman has graciously offered Silva an immediate rematch in November at MSG at which Spider could attempt to regain his title.
