Dirk has great 'explosion'? Nope, he's a crafty 7 footer.

A lot will depend on what kind of run he has in March. But, yes, I don't think theres any way he doesn't go in the lottery at least. I think he'll go top 10. Take the Zags to the FF and he's a top 3 pick.

True. He just has to work on his off balance, off the wrong foot, heavily defended step back jumper, all while looking like he got shot through a cannon. Ala Dirk Digg.

    Come on! Dirk's first-step is crazy for a 7-footer.

I don't think his first step is what makes him so good. In fact it doesn't even register to me as a reason he's so good. He's herky-jerky and awkward and can score in so many ways. His first step looks good because defenders have to play him tight. He's just a your fucked either way kinda guy to defend. Dirk's shooting mechanics and elevation of his shot are about as pure as it gets.

Kid grew a foot from his Sophomore to Senior year in high school. He kept those guard skills.

Dirk, like LMA, has a high release, especially for a tall guy. Dirk is able to get many shots off that others would get blocked. I did not pay attention to Olynyk's release, but I don't remember it being high. Olynyk certainly has the footwork to make it at the next level.

Different kind of footwork. Nicholson > back to the basket in the paint. Olynyk > with the ball at the elbow facing and driving.

He's 7 feet tall and skilled, there's always a place in the NBA for those kind of guys. I think what he's capable of in terms of being a journeyman or being something more is going to hinge on how well he can defend other bigs and if he's got enough agility to jump out and hedge on screens and recover to the paint.

He looks like he could be one helluva player on offense though, maybe not quite Dirk level (at the same age) but he's got a lot of tools.

I am not impressed with him at all. He reminds me too much of Adam Morrision. I don't think he is athletic enough to play in the league. At best, I see him as a #8, #9 guy on the bench.
