I think he'll be a good NBA player but when do you guys expect him to break out. Do you see it happening next year, the yr after, or 3-4 years down the road
I think it will be about 3 years down the line, and here's why. That's when most of our young guys' contracts expire, and most of them will likely want pretty big contracts. The Cs will be forced to let some walk, which in turn would clear up the little logjam we have, and i would think DA would keep Green for his potential. I can see him getting about 17/6 by then.
In 2-3 years people will start to catch promising glimses of his potential but it wont be into 4-5 years until he truly breaks out
In 2-3 years, Gerald will break out. He still has a lot to learn (especially defensively) and he has a lot of work to do, but I think he is going to be a good player in this league. He has All-Star potential, and he works hard. So I think that as long as he keeps up his good work ethic and does everything the coaches tell him, he will live up to his potential. His athleticism and smooth shooting touch is rare for a raw wing comming out of HS, but he has it. And he has gotten bigger since comming into the league, and you can tell by just looking at pictures of him from this year's summer league. All I can say is that I am extremely happy he fell to #18 in the 05 draft, and I am very excited to see how this kid grows as a player. Again, all he has to do is listen to the coaches, work as hard as everyone says he is, and let the game come to him. Then, he will be something to watch out for. But, 2-3 years I can see this happening. I say by All-Star break in 2008 he is going to raise more eyebrows for doing more than just being on ESPN highlight reels. In the words of Tommy Heihnson: "Go get 'em Gerald!"
give him 3 or 4 years..he needs to work on his defense which I think he will by then..they should really focus on developing his defense and making him work harder without the ball..we all know what he can do when he has the ball but he needs to work on moving without the ball
