I did. But I'm not a fan of playing players out of their natural positions, and Nic is a natural SF. If there was a SF who had excellent dribbling ability then I might be fine with running two SFs. And while SF is a deeper position than SG, I don't know that it's significantly deeper - it's certainly not on the level of PG or PF.
    Got a list of SFs?

interesting trade from realgm trade board:

Portland Trades: JJ Hickson, Timberwolves 2nd round draft pick
    Portland Receives: Terrence Jones

    Houston Trades: Terrence Jones
Houston Receives: JJ Hickson, Timberwolves 2nd round draft pick

Why for Houston: As Houston is on the edge of a playoff birth, PF is arguably their weakest position. They have a log jam of guys that are good, but no one that stands out. An Asik/Hickson front court is likely to rival the best rebounding front courts in the league. Houston has the cap space to keep him this summer if it works out.

Why for Portland: Continues a youth movement for the team. FO doesn't sound like they want to keep Hickson at the C position, and he'd likely demand too much money to come off the bench. Jones won't replace Hicksons contributions, but he has potential and was born in Portland.

    another idea:

    JJ Hickson for kevin Seraphin

get some value for JJ with a PF/C who has faltered somewhat this yr after finishing last yr very strong. Low risk as he is on a very cheap contract - one yr left after this at close to 2 mil. Only 23 and still has upside, change of scenery and playing with a fello Frenchy (Nic) could be positives, worth a shot IMO

Reports have the Celtics looking to wheel and deal. Would the Blazers have interest in Leandrinho Barbosa?

    Bench mob!

They need a ballhandler in the worst way.

Draft Burke (if we're lucky) and sign Milsap.

Fez, would you rather have Milsap over Al Jefferson. I actually would love to have Big Al. I understand the no defense from him, but he is so tough in the block and I think would work well with LAs outside game. Where would Milsap play?

I'd be all over that trade. I'm not really sure Seraphin is a long-term solution, but he'd be worth a flier.

The thing with LaMarcus is that he's been at his best in recent years the closer he plays to the basket with the occasional 18 footer thrown in. If Jefferson is brought here I feel like they'd be canceling out each other to a point; both are mostly offensively oriented players who occupy the same space on the floor. If LA was more of a knock-down shooter or could extend his range out to the three point line reliably maybe it would work, but I think this team would still be a bit of a sieve defensively inside.

I feel like the ideal pairing would be somebody like Noah, or Varejao (before Varejao was getting hurt all of the time) a defensive minded 7 footer who lives most off of garbage buckets (like Hickson) but somebody who can actually guard the paint. I know we're not going to get the "perfect" guy in all likelihood, but I guess I'd be looking at something like that. As for Millsap, I don't see that happening, he can't play backup minutes at the five really and he'd get almost nothing behind LaMarcus, backup 4/5 should probably be a player on a rookie scale deal or a career journeyman making below the MLE.

If they're going to spend a lot of cash, this team needs a more versatile and talented 2 guard who can knock down an outside shot to probably replace Wesley in the starting unit (or be a sixth man) and they really need a starting center; those are the areas that'll probably get the most attention monetarily.

You'd have to convince Milsap to come off the bench but I think he'd fit in great in that Carl Landry-on-steroids role.

Since 2006 the Blazers were always after David Lee (when w/NY) and Milsap for this role. Btw, we probably could have had Lee if we were willing to give up Rudy. At the time Rudy's hype was crazy.

I feel like Millsap would be more of a luxury signing at this point. There's too many other areas of glaring weakness that need more attention (i.e. money).

I think the Blazers should really go after Terrence Ross he'll be better then Mathews in a couple years anyway but I'm sure you would have to take Bargnani back with Ross.

I'd love to trade them Hickson for Ross. But they'd have to have some assurance Hickson is going to stay around. The only way to give them that is a sign and trade after the season.

Would you take Bargnani back if we where able to sign and trade Hickson in a package?

Toronto wants to get out of Bargs and Fields' deals, but I think they do anything they can to keep Ross. Hes looking very nice right now. They may move DeRozan before they move Ross.

I'm a Josh Smith fan, and think he'd be a great fit for the Blazers. If they could get him without giving up a starter, a Lillard/Wes/Batum/Smith/LA lineup looks damn good to me. Great athleticism and length, the 2-4 are stout defensively, and I think Josh Smith could look great on offense as the 4th banana killing teams for collapsing on Lillard, LMA, and Batum. Athletically, they team can keep up with OKC and Miami (and anyone else) and they'd have a big skill advantage at the 4/5.

LMA bitching about playing C is problematic. You could argue that Smith, as a PF, provides what you want from a C. On ball defense, help defense, athleticism. People seem wary of him because hes not a big PF, but how many 6'9+ PFs are there in the league now? And how often have you seen him look overwhelmed physically? Also J-Smoove wants to get paid, and obviously you don't want to give him anywhere near max. But that starting 5 looks damn good on both sides of the ball IMO.

The Raptors get Rapetered in that deal. But they get out of Bargnani's contract. So long as we have a real center we can put Bargnani to good use. Paul can afford it and we still have our lotto pick. So...I like it.
