I missed it. A battle of two of the top 2 guards in the draft. Smart's biggest weakness is easily his 3pt shot. His 2 assists doesn't really bother me.

Who looked better, him or McLemore?

I'm watching the end of this Indiana/Michigan game. Some good NBA prospects in this game. Olidippo can ball.

I love Zeller's skillset. He's going to be a good one.

Fuck, might as well put Olidipo up there in the mix of great 2 guard prospects in this draft. That position is stocked in the draft.

One of the things I love about Zeller is that the bigger the opponent the better he plays.

I think the issue with Burke is his size. He's lucky if he's 6 foot and that's hurting him. I'm watching Olidipo D him up right now.

Eh, don't see much of an NBA future for Olidipo. Hes athletic, but not that quick. Dunno if his defense will translate, and I don't think hes really skilled enough to do much on offense in the NBA.

I like Burke as a future super 6th man.

You wont have to worry about Burke being posted up in crunch time with Lillard on the roster.

Weird, I don't really see him as that slow. He's done a lot of work on his outside shot as well, he's got it up to 50%. Not much of a catch and shoot guy, though.

He reminds me of DJ Augustin.

Talking more about lateral quickness... I dunno. Hes an overwhelming athlete in college and skilled enough to be a very good college player. But its his lateral quickness that concerns me, and perhaps he could make it as a 6'7+ SF but he looks about 6'4. Just not skilled enough as an NBA SG and I dunno that he'll translate as a defensive specialist.

I started watching at the half, but I don't think either one necessarily looked better. Not to cop out, but they really both looked great. McLemore got most of his points in the second half off of his athleticism, but he also hit a big three in the clutch to give KU a chance to almost pull off a comeback. Smart was everywhere on the floor, played more aggressive. VanillaGorilla pointed out his bad shooting numbers, but I think most of that was in the first half, because his shot looked damn good in the second.

Great day for college hoops though. The Oklahoma State/Kansas was on ESPN3... I've started using that a lot more. I never used it last season, because I figured it would probably be shit, but there's almost no lag, and the picture's actually really clear. I was able to have that going and watch the Wichita St/Northern Iowa game in the background at the same time.

I'm actually surprised this Michigan/Indiana game is so close right now. Indiana has had so many chances to just bury them but they keep hanging around somehow.

I liked Smart better, for the reason NOVoodoo said. He's a guy who is all over the court and can make an impact in every way. McLemore really just isn't the type of player I like.

I like strong guards. Smart is built like a linebacker and has a complete game.

I actually sat down and watched a Kentucky game this weekend. Noel is a guy that is a must have for Portland

I'm interested to track the development of Mitch McGary. I remember I first saw him play in a high school game against Tilton (aka Nerlens Noel's HS) that was on ESPN. He was their #2 ranked recruit at the time, but Noel absolutely dominated McGary, and subsequently (not sure if it was related), McGary plummeted in the rankings.

I remember when McGary chose Michigan over Kentucky, Duke, and North Carolina, he said he did so because he wanted to create a legacy for himself and not just be apart of the school's legacy. It must have been humbling for someone with that mentality to reach the midpoint of his freshman season being widely considered only the third best freshman on Michigan.

Whatever happened between then and now though, he's starting to show some serious promise. I hope he doesn't let his ego go to his head and declare this year, because a another year or two of college ball could really help his game, but he's definitely starting to show all of the potential that everyone saw from him early on in HS.

    ---

(BTW - I know that he got blocked by Amir Williams in overtime, and Dick Vitale went on to say something about how he should have finished better, but that was a great play all around, McGary went hard, and Williams just had an incredible block. I don't think there is a player in the collegiate game who could have adjusted to Williams coming in from the weakside.)

    Anyone watching Kansas @ TCU?

McLemore's having an overall bad game, but specifically on the defensive end. He's been clowned on consecutive plays.

DX is not a fan of McLemore going in the top-5.

Their comparison for him is Jason Richardson.

A SG who can't create his own shot, in other words.

McLemore can create his own shot. I'm just not sold on his driving ability at the next level. He's a wet shooter though.
