    Yeah they said a AAA stadium in the Rose Quarter would harm them. They just wanted to keep their options open at the RQ. Still waiting for them to do something there.

    I guess i just think of them as more of a desert thing, like Arizona. Plus i would want the team to start over fresh with a new name.

    If I had a dime for everytime the Pittsburgh Penguins or some other NHL team was going to be moving to Portland, I'd have...probably 80 cents by now.

    Hockey in Portland makes sense on one level and absolutely none on another level

    Sense
    Hockey is very popular in Portland
    PA would like the guaranteed money 41 games a year would bring him
    Rose Garden could get more for naming rights with two teams instead of one

    No sense
    It competes during the same season as the NBA for fan dollars and corporate dollars, which Portland has little of


    What makes the most sense as far as NHL in Portland is if PA bought a team. He could market them together and sell corporate sponsorship in a package deal.

    The problem with PA buying a team is i bet he would move them to Seattle. If you're waiting for him to buy a team you would have to hope Seattle already had one.

    I was always under the impression that Paul wasn't necessarily against the NHL in Portland, just that he wasn't interested in owning a team.
