I should have been more clear. Aldridge's greatest strength in basketball is shooting a mid-range jumpshot. A free throw uses the same exact fundamental mechanical skills and it's been falling apart for him at the line in crunch time this year.

It is what it is, I don't hate him for it, I don't think it's a huge deal long-term problem, but it is an issue this year.

It doesn't, 82games says the last time they updated the pages was 1/28/13, so the 12 for 19 doesn't include last night or the Dallas and Utah games if he had any FT attempts fitting their definition of clutch time.

82games does go back 5 years on the clutch stats tho, and outside of last years very small sample size LMA has not been good late in close games. Including the 2 from last night he's 84 for 126, or 66.6% compared to 78.6% overall in that same span.

I think most telling was listening to the Minny broadcasters as LMA was fouled, they were actually happy it was him going to the line and were talking about how the scouting report says LMA is the one other teams want to foul late in games.

Your comment explained seems fair. I can agree with that.

No it doesn't. Free throws aren't jump shots. Their feet stay planted on the ground. It's a completely different kind of shot. Geesh. Learn the game before posting. 30 wins, lolol, the Rondo mold, etc etc

You're right it's even worse, it's a set shot, something that takes even less skill and coordination than a jump shot.

82games says that's for the last 5 minutes or OT, when the margin is 5 or fewer points. The complaint concerns Aldridge's FTs in about the last 30 seconds. The stats don't measure what the thread is talking about.
