Pelton: Batum's Production Is Worth The Max | http://bit.ly/XP7frJ The ink was not yet dry, or in some cases, even out of the pen, before some labeled Nicolas Batum as "overpaid" after he signed a four-year, $46 million contract with the Trail Blazers this summer. That notion has softened quite a bit, as Batum has put together a career-year through the first part of the 2012-13 season. The other player who is not a well-known Star that is worth the Max? Ryan Anderson
Saw this posted to FB. Not surprised by this take (I had seen a similar take over the summer, and it had said Batum was slightly underpaid). On some teams, Batum would have been paid the max.
I like Anderson's shooting (and would take him on any team I started) but what does he do really besides that?
http://bkref.com/tiny/aIIyd Here's a group of players who do what Batum can do. A lot of them score more points. But when you look at that list, you know what kind of company Batum is in. (to make it all fair, I did Per 36 Minutes stats).
After looking at that list, it would pay to overpay (in a trade) for Evan Turner. Not us specifically (as I can't think they would want our garbage) but in general a team should make a run at him.
Sorry, the earlier link had some bad filter criteria going on. Here's one where every metric is per 36 minutes. http://bkref.com/tiny/bKrc6 What this shows me is how awesome Eric Bledsoe is/could be.
