I'm on board with waiting until the summer. Trades right now just seem so unlikely because they don't have much cap flexibility and the complete dearth of trade-able prospects.

Ride out the string, see what you can do in a run up to the playoffs and whatever happens just make sure you don't end up with the 13th or 14th draft position.

Ya because we've had such great luck getting good free agents to come play for the Blazers in the past.

BGD you're focused too much on free agent signings. The Blazers will probably get some kind of mid-level free agent and some bench depth, but it's in a lopsided trade where they have the chance to make a real impact move.

I hope so I don't want the Blazers to be so focused on free agency and the draft that they rule out trades like it seemed like KP did..

I'd try and trade Hickson and Freeland at the very least, Freeland just to get his salary off the cap.

Grant was the best one, but we overpaid all of them to come here

I'd trade Hickson for a second rounder if I was Olshey, but Hickson's veto power gums things up a bit. As for Freeland, why would anybody else want his salary? And I sort of doubt they'd want him for his talent and upside.

The Miller experiment could have been better have we had a different coach.

Yes, I wish we could get Dalembert. If I get to choose between Hickson and Leonard, I choose Hickson every day of the week, and for several years, because Leonard won't improve any more than Hickson will.

Besides Dalembert, another very undervalued player is Salmons.

Matthews isn't overpaid. He's got an amazing contract. Andre miller would have been very solid as well, if we had a coach that could utilize his strengths. There was a moment when miller and Aldridge had the lob city, being the number one team for lob dunks.

I did forget Strickland too, which is another allstar talent that decided to come to Portland as a free agent.

Remember shremp and Augman? Both were free agents as well.

Hickson would be the perfect big man coming off the bench. In fact, I suspect teaming him with dalembert would be a perfect 1-2 punch at center. Hickson for offense and dalembert for defense.

Or a SG who was willing to let a real PG distribute the ball and improve their game to play better off the ball. Just another reason Roy's # absolutely should NOT be retired...

No it had more to do with Nate's coaching style than Roy's ISO demand. Remember that last season we had no Roy and we were still one of the worst in points and scoring distribution.

And I will post the Leonard for Dalembert idea too!

Trade Leonard for Dalembert. Move Hickson to the PF/C rotation player off the bench. move Matthews to back-up SG with Hickson. Move Batum to starting SG and Clavar to starting SF.

The summer after making the playoffs; we retain Hickson and Dalembert and have only MAX MLE to offer JJ Redick. Sign Hickson (7 million per) and Dalembert (6 million per). Trade Freeland, sign and trade E Will and Luke Babbitt for another raw center (Brendan Haywood).

    Starting 5:

PG: Lillard, SG: Redick, SF: Batum, PF: Aldridge, Center: Dalebert

    Back-ups:
PG: Price, SG: Matthews, SF: Clavar, PF/C: Haywood and Hickson.
