ACC fans booed Andrea Bargnani as he returned to action last night. Low point for the franchise, IMO. Between pizza and showing up to cheer for Kobe/LeBron/Jeremy Lin to booing our own player the crowd really hasn't shown Toronto to be a great basketball market in the last few seasons. Granted they have been frustrating seasons but still, no class. Blame lies entirely with Colangelo who has put him in an un-winnable situation and then undercut him this month by openly talking about offloading him.
Casey “I’m disappointed because this young man has done nothing to deserve that,” Casey said in his post-game press conference. “He’s been hurt. Fans have a right to boo, cheer, boo me, whomever they want to boo. I don’t think Andrea deserved that. The young man has come back from a serious injury, but again I thought he was a pro about it, he came in and played and gave us everything he needed.”
It's tough out here ...I think people see the ability of Rudy Gay and see how much Bargs does and it shows. Same draft, two completely different levels of talent. Frankly, whether he deserves it or not; fans have every right. While we haven't been the classiest, we can deny the fact Bargs needs to go. Amir Johnson pulled in one game, IIRC, 18-16 ...that right there shows he's better. Call me crazy but Bargs for Pau let it be done. The teachings that Gasol could give to Val ALONE make this trade worth it.
Gasol has been a fair weather player for his career. I'm not under the impression he's the kind of role model we want for Val.
I think this is being blown out of proportion. If you watched this game on tv you probably didnt even notice the booing. The crowd was all cheers when he did score. There was a select bunch who are like the randy quaid character fan from major league 2 who are going to boo when things are bad and those type of people are usually the loudest. If you been to a game live at the acc the crowd is a bunch of clueless fans made up of: maple leaf fans, annoying kids, female "fans" who think "that player is hot", and rich folks who go to the game for a night out. Very few real basketball/raptors fans actually at the games on consistent basis.
True you couldn't hear it on the tv but booing your own player is pretty stupid. Looks like the Raptors are trying to trade for Boozer anyways.
I've been waiting for five years for you to post and yet you still outdid yourself with the Randy Quaid from Major League 2 reference.
5 years of lurking in the shadows that is the raptors forum...I guess it was time to finally write something. Was going to comment about the possible boozer trade but I switch pages.
