    Let's pretend for just a second that this statement were actually true (it's not).

    What would Trail Blazers management have to gain by backing a campaign to make Hickson an all-star? All it would do would drive up his free agent value. If they think he's worth keeping, they'll want to do so at a lower salary.

    I always wonder what any team's reason is to promote their player to the rest of the league in an all-star campaign, unless they're driving up his trade value. Their own fans already know the player's virtues and won't be further educated, and as for other teams' fans, what's in it for the home team?
