Hope we don't make the same mistake with Leonard as we did with Jermaine...

We didn't make a mistake with Jermaine. He wasn't ready, and our window was closing. We went all in with a pretty damned decent hand, sometimes you just get beat by better cards.

Paul Allen does not like to trade rookie players after the Jermaine trade.

I agree, to an extent. Certainly the worse mistake was Brian for Shawn Kemp. In retrospect, of course, we should've let Brian walk for nothing and opened up minutes for Jermaine.
BUT: O'Neal was GIVEN a chance and he blew it. There was a stretch when he was started and he stunk up the joint. Sometimes you need a change of scenery and a coach who wants to stake his reputation on you (Isiah Thomas). As Jeremy Lin proved, you need to be put in a position to succeed, and we didn't have the time or PT for him.

I don't think much of Leonard, but then again, I thought just as little of Javale McGee and DeAndre Jordan and they seem to be contributing finally, but what do I know? I still say Leonard is more Chris Mihm than Tyson Chandler.

Because they're not trapped by outdated gender stereotypes? Because they know that the chicks dig long flowing locks? Because they're not sad old farts who think it's a bad thing to "look like a girl"?

It's just a reminder to not give up too soon on a young big man with athleticism and potential. I don't agree that it applies to every young guy on our team. Other than Oden, when was the last time we had a young guy on this team with Leonard's combination of size and athleticism? Probably Jermaine O'Neal. So, I think the comparison is valid.

And Sabonis said Jermaine had a ton of talent but was lazy and had a poor work ethic. No wonder Sheed spoke so highly of him.

*Visibly flustered figuring out defensive roations.

*When forced to think on offense, yeah, don't do that just yet.

*Strictly should be getting P&R's. Make it easy on him until he figures it out.

Define "impact player". Is it a solid, above average NBA starter, or a future Hall of Famer. Jermaine was the example cited, but there are plenty of big men who start out slow and end up having very solid careers.

It cracks me up that the same people who are all over throwing big bucks at Pekovic are the same people who want to trade Leonard. Go back and compare Pekovic's advanced rookie stats to Leonard's. Leonard's stats are BETTER, across the board, and in some cases WAY better. And Leonard is a 20-year old rookie. Pekovic was 25 his rookie season.

    "chicks dig long flowing locks"

Some women do, some think it makes a man look like a girl.

You didn't even come close to answering the question. He never even said it was a bad thing to look like a girl. Do you have long hair?

If between now and then we somehow added a center as good as Sabonis and a backup big man as good as Brian Grant I couldn't care less what happens to Leonard.

Hope we don't make the same mistake with Leonard as we did with Sergio and Rudy and Bonzi and Zach and Oden.

We could have traded any of those guys for a ton of value at various points during their first or second year but didn't because "they could be the next Jermaine O'Neal."

How'd that work out for us?

There's just as much danger in holding on to a young prospect too long as there is in letting him go too soon. Maybe more.

I think Randolph's had a better career than Jermaine.

Robin Lopez was an 11 PER guy as a 20 year old rookie, he's now a 20 PER guy. Or, as mentioned earlier, Pekovic and his 11 PER as a 25 year old rookie. Kaman had a 9.6 PER as a 21 year old rookie.

Stick a fork in him, he's done.

Lol. It went from bumping threads saying how Meyers was a great pick and not a big white stiff to now hoping Blazers don't make a mistake and trade him to early.

There is certainly a lot of bumping of threads to do if Meyers pans out . . .
