I did a double take because for a second I thought this was another one of those spambots trying to sell jerseys.

As somebody who grew up with adverts on Football shirts (i.e. "soccer jerseys") I'm not bothered in the least.

When Liverpool was the best team in the '80s, they were sponsored by a computer firm called "Wang". Thousands of boys and men proudly wore the word WANG on their chests.

[Edit: I misremembered - it was Oxford United, in their short-lived spell in the top flight:

they look like soccer uniforms. And what if you're a fatty? Half the reason to WEAR a NBA style uniform is to cover up the moobs and the belly.

can you imagine all the wanna be's out there (who are square in shape) putting on one of these skin tight jobbies?

The unis look god awful, but its at least as much the style as it is the new design. They're just ugly and boring. Also in the full body pics the shorts have pinstripes but the tops don't. Looks really odd.

Also no surprise they picked Barnes for most of the glamor shots. They'll look pretty damn unimpressive on Curry, Lee, Bogut, Jack, etc.

Huh? Ads make MORE sense for Basketball: people are sitting close enough to be able to see them. Plus, Messi is about 5 feet tall - there's a lot more space on a basketball player.

I think he is referring to there being commercial breaks for Basketball, and not so much for Soccer

Not a big deal. The small patch is going to turn into a full advertising and I have no problem with that.

I just really don't like it.... I don't like it with soccer either. Your jersey should proudly represent your city, not some corporate billboard. I haven't worn jerseys much since I was a youngen, but making the uniforms into walking billboards would make me stop wearing jerseys entirely. (Unless they want to pay me, and then it's a whole different story)

That and soccer jerseys are more shirt like and work with ads. Basketball jerseys on the other hand are more simple, and classic. Advertisements will take away from what makes them special in the first place.

It is a big deal, I for one will stop adding to my collection. When I buy a jersey I am repping the player or team, not xyz company. It's just tasteless IMHO.

It's all about the money. Another revenue source. It's inevitable.
