And why does no one consider them a serious contender to actually win it all?

Experts weigh in please. Inquiring mind wants to know.

They do this every year. They're a good team, but they're old and they don't have enough talent to beat an OKC or probably even a LAC.

Aren't most of their players relatively young? Even Parker isn't THAT old.

Yes a Bulls team that's already won 30 games.

Spurs started a 1 year year player, a 2 year player, a 3 year player, and a rookie tonight along with Diaw. They don't look so old to me.

They've been in this position for most of the past few seasons. They've got a system that seems to carry them when teams only see them once or twice, but in a series it's not enough to overcome superior talent. Back when they were winning titles, THEY had the superior talent, but Duncan and Ginobili are old and breaking down and one star (who, while awesome, is not as good as Chris Paul) is not enough.

Are those odds up to date? Why are the Wizards twice as much of a long shot as the Magic?

Weird night in the NBA. If the Hawks hold on then the only home team to win will be Charlotte, against the previously red-hot Celtics.

Yeah, cause they really struggled to sweep the Clippers last year with an average margin of victory of 11.5 points. They started off great against OKC, but then the Thunder got hot and took them out. If anything, the Spurs are considerably better this year than last. Duncan seems to have found the fountain of youth. Two starters with a PER > 24 is incredible, and their top two bench players also have PER > 20. Their starters are every bit as good as last year (better, actually) and their bench is much improved.

And, I think all these current minor nagging "injuries: is just Pop's way of resting his vets without getting fined by the league. And, even without Parker, Duncan and Ginobili, they still completely steamrolled the Bulls in Chicago tonight. I'm not saying the Spurs will win it all, but I do think they are at least in the top 4 teams in the league (along with the Clippers, Thunder and Heat). And, when you're in that top tier, you always have a chance to win it all. It will come down to injuries and who is hot at the right time.

A - They have the best coach in the league.

B - Their 3 best players are SMART, not just skilled.

Essentially they play the game differently than the other 29 teams in the league. Nerds united will beat the jocks. But I agree that they don't have the youth necessary to take it all the way home. Though I wouldn't be surprised if they make it happen anyway.

I think SA plays most like the Euro teams do. They share the ball really well, but also happen to have a great go to guy in Duncan
