We just need background checks and this kind of thing will stop happening.

Well, this is a little different than wanting to shoot someone that cut you off... the one driver actually hit the guy with his car (accidentally he claims), and I'm guessing the shooter took it as a threat to his life and started shooting. The police aren't even sure what to do with this...

Am confused by this, obviously, you don't know if he fired, but if so, how is it unclear he did anything wrong?

Because, if he thought the guy was intentionally trying to run him over it could be considered self defense. Not saying hes in the right but that could be why the police are unsure what to do.

Police shoot to kill if a citizen drives in their direction, even if they could avoid being hit. It's assault with a deadly weapon.

Why would the guy be trying to hit him on purpose? Is there any evidence of that? If not, this guy is fucking crazy, and definitely did something wrong.

The assassin chose a car for his weapon. A gun was used in self defense. We need more car control.

Same reason he hit him the first time, I suppose.

Bottom line, the guy should never be allowed to own or wield a vehicle ever again.

There's no such thing as an automobile accident. It is always someone's fault. Reckless endangerment, indifference for human life. If you kill someone with a car you'every bit a murderer as someone who does it with a gun.

Calling it an accident doesn't rid them of fault. In an accident, there's a lack of intent. That's what separates it from murder. Not only is that the law, it's morally right.

Why are you asking me? I have no idea. I'm just merely stating why the police might be unsure if this is a clear cut case of assault with a firearm. I'm sure the shooter is saying that he feared for his life, and the police have to determine if that fear was warranted or not. If I had to guess, I would wager they still file charges against the shooter.

George's character is played by an actor also named Jason Alexander, like the policer captain named in the story.

I think he quoted the wrong post. I don't think he was questioning the comparison to George Costanza.
