Hope we don't make the same mistake with Leonard as we did with Jermaine...

Adam Morrison could grow his hair as long as he likes, won't hide the fact that he fell off the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

This. And every time he was put in the game he looked horribly lost. And Dale Davis and just defended Shaq - our primary road block - better than anyone else in the league. The trade was sound, it just didn't work out.
And while it would have been better to have mid-career Jermaine than late-career Davis, Jermaine really only "dominated" the East when there wasn't any real competition. He certainly wasn't going to take us near a Championship had we kept him. And if he had an injury plagued career playing for other teams just imagine how busted he would have been playing under our Medical/Training staff.

It seems to me that a lot of the players listed, and I know it's almost impossible to find near exact comparisons, but the one's listed were either straight to the NBA from high school, or had poor offensive numbers as a rookie, but still were very good defending the rim.

I'm sure I am missing several players, but I can't think of any off the top of my head (Chris Kaman?) He was 10/9 in 36 minutes as a rookie. Leonard is 10/7.5. That's close

It took me some time, but I think I just realized who Leonard reminds me of.

    BJ Mullens.

BJ is a good comparison. Neither defend the rim particularly well (Leonard is much better at it than Mullens) Mullens is a little more of a jump shooter, although both like to drift outside.

Chris Mihm is the guy I always think about when I think of comparisons for Meyers.

Channing Frye is another good comparison, I think. Leonard is a bit bigger, but they have similar games

Frye seemed to have more BB awareness. He may not have been the greatest defender; but it seemed like he played position defense much better. Also, he was decent with help defense. Maybe Leonard may get to Frye's level someday.

Personally, I think Leonard was a wasted pick. I actually don't think there is much hope for him to be any better than 6 ppg, 7 rebounds, 1 block (my opinion on his ceiling)

You're going to get blown up for saying it, but you're probably more right than wrong ... but that's the case for most bigs. The bust rate is pretty damned high on seven footers.

I really hope I'm wrong though. I'm just not "OMGing" about this kid. Nothing against him. I just think mentally, he has what it takes to improve like an Aldridge, Batum, etc.

What people need to understand about Leonard, is that he's never really been coached. It's evident that at Illinois they simply placed him in the sytem and didn't take the time to develop him individually. Very typical in college ranks with only so much practice time available.

Leonard's underlining stats seem pretty good for his limited minutes. I don't think he will be a bust at all. Just don't expect him to come close to being a star.

Wild speculation. You have no idea how much (or how little) coaching he received.

Where in the fuck is the bitter hatred towards Mags for daring to say anything bad about Leonard?

Problem with Leonard is he doesn't seem to be improving (even slightly0). He showed signs early in the season of potentially having an impact on hte team. So it is there somewhere, but I was hoping to see a slow gradual improvement (with the ocassional bust game).

It could be due to his ankle, I don't believe that to be the case, but it could?
