Dorner has a 4-year degree from Southern Utah, where he was on the football team. He was an officer in the Navy. He was a Lieutenant (O-3). The Army/Air Force equivalent is Captain. In other words, he had credentials superior to the other recruits at the L.A. Police Academy.
So was the media allowed anywhere near the fight? I'm wondering how that "fire" started.... possibly from a missile fired from a predator drone?
...why are they letting this cabin continue to burn?! That makes absolutely no sense to let the inferno rage on

How did he get promoted so fast? One L.A. Times article mentioned that he was a Seal. If he was, the Navy policy is to keep that secret. He was in the Navy, then an L.A. policeman also in the Navy Reserve, then called back, did 13 months in Iraq or Afghanistan I think, returned to his police job, where they were waiting to fire him because he had been a whistleblower.
That's exactly why. In Southern California they do this every couple of years. The most nationally famous example is the Symbionese Liberation Front. The media and fire trucks were kept blocks away while they burned the house and inhabitants for a long time. But there have also been other burnings shown on live TV there.
Triple Irony,LAPD shoot 40 times at innocent women while looking for the cop-killer. http://reason.com/blog/2013/02/09/video-lapd-had-no-idea-who-they-were-sho This wasn't even close to mistaken identity, the cops just sort of found a similar vehicle and went crazy. Will they even get fired? Their CBA might not allow that. Crazy.
Hahahahaha.... HAHAGHAHAHA.... oooooh that was a good one! http://www.policeone.com/police-trainers/articles/6117617-No-parole-for-cop-killers-like-Joel-Lee-Compton/ http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4792250/Double-cop-killer-Dale-Cregan-changes-his-plea-to-guilty.html http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/brooklyn/cop_killer_nonsense_fh85Njwh289nL5HJNUPoUP It looks like there is a ton of support for self defense against police, am I right?
