Timbers acquire midfielder Ben Zemanski from Chivas USA in exchange for allocation money, right of first refusal to Jonathan Bornstein: http://www.portlandtimbers.com/news...ivas-usa-exchange-allocation-money-right-firs Really rackin' up those Akron kids.
It's funny, I saw that Cameron Knowles took part in one of the short sided games the other day, who is of course a Zip. LOL
Is he better than Eric Alexander? Can someone who is a Timbers junkie break down this move, because the moves they are making is confusing me. Is it going to be a good season?
I haven't seen Zemanski play much, but from what I've read and seen he rates higher than Alexander. He can play anywhere in the midfield and can play at an outside defender spot as well. It is thought that he is the eventual replacement for Jewsbury at DM. He also makes the exact same salary as Alexander. The Timbers tried Alexander out in the DM position in preseason and it didn't work out. Not sure that played into the trade much because supposedly the Timbers have had Zemanski on their radar for a while. I think the Timbers will finally challenge for a playoff spot
