We all know it's happening. LA has gone on record a couple of times now saying he wants, and we need a real center. Assuming everyone is available at the right price, I thought I would list some players we could sneak in on Omer Asik - Houston might be players int he Dwight Howard sweepstakes, and won't need or want Asik. We could easily make a deal for him with our cap space Gortat - Phoenix is about ready to clear everyone out. Gortat for a lottery pick and cash probably gets it done for Sarver McGee - Not really Goerge Karl's favorite. He is owed a bunch of money, but again we could easily trade for him with cap space and maybe a pick and or S&T Hickson
McGee would be pretty expensive and he's about as bright as a log. Although out of what you listed I would choose either him or asik.
Big reason why I think getting an asset for Hickson is important. Even a late first. GO into thre offseason with big cap space, and the rights to two recent picks, can package all of that to a team looking to move salary or players.
Honestly, if a team JJ wanted to play for gives up a late first for JJ, I think Olshey would jump on it. Not sure that's going to happen though. OKC has a very high 2nd, most likely 31st. Philly has two good 2nds. Portland already has two good 2nds, so adding a third or forth might be enough to get up into the first round for a team not wanting guaranteed salary on the cap hold?
I just don't want our coach and players to purposely tank. If we just lose because we don't have the firepower to win; then that's entirely different
Gortat or Asik would be nice! Sheesh, sad to think that drafted Asik but didn't keep him. The Blazers have sure botched a lot of moves. We also could have had Blair, Faried, we traded Bayless for nothing....we could be having a pretty solid bench right now.
Selling Asik to the Bulls sorta makes up for them trading LMA to the Blazers for Tyrus Thomas and Viktor.
To be fair to Portland, Asik was a 7 footer picked at #36. That's like finding a fresh donut under a pile of broccoli at a police convention.
I'd like Asik, but I just don't think Houston parts with him, at least not for a lot more than I'd want to give. I'm for going after Javale McGee. Sure he's dumb and lazy, but he's also an athletic freak putting up fantastic per minute numbers. He wouldn't be the first NBA player with a bad rep to move to a new team and renovate his young career. Felton, Crawford, Randolph, Rasheed, Jermaine....there are lots of guys just from our own franchise who put it together in a different environment after many wrote them off. The Nuggets play with the second fastest pace in the league at a mile high. Maybe in a more methodical franchise his stupidity and laziness would be less of a factor. He's owed $12m/year through end of 2015/16, so you can see why Denver might be amenable. *shrug* It's probably a move that's either a disaster or genius.
