I don't agree with this worse player nonsense but I do think this is another data-point that suggests that LMA is really a robin (a good one though) to someone's batman. He doesn't seem to have the killer instinct. Almost too laid-back.
I don't anyone would disagree that Aldridge is a robin. It's when people portray Aldridge as some worthless scrub is a fucking joke. Aldridge is just as important to the success of blazers as gasol was to the lakers success (when they won those championships).
I don't think Aldridge is junk. I think Aldridge is good, but not untouchable superstar like some make hi out me to be. If you can get more depth and an equal talent back like Monroe who is more in Lillards window, you gotta do it.
When I posted that I was looking at the box score and seeing that Aldridge had the 2nd-fewest FGA per minute (1 every 5.7 min, Lopez was 1 every 10.6, all others shot every 2 or 3 min). This confirmed that Aldridge has to be set up in perfect position by a passer familiar with him, and then still takes seconds to get comfortable to shoot. Because of the paucity of his shots, his efficiency (FGM-FGA+FTM-FTA+reb+asst+blk+stl-TO+pts) wasn't as bad as I thought. He was 4th worst out of 24 players (worst was Bosh, then Duncan, Garnett, Aldridge). Per minute, he was 5th worst (Bosh, Duncan, Garnett, Deng, Aldridge). My mistake. After last year's stinker, he moved up to 4th or 5th worst. Congratulations, LaMarcus! http://www.nba.com/games/20130217/ESTWST/gameinfo.html#nbaGIboxscore
Is that link supposed to be proof that Aldridge is not Monroe? No shit. Monroe is 22. Would you have seen that article about LaMarcus when he was 22? You wouldn't, because Monroe is better than Aldridge was at 22. Monroe is statistically on par with LaMarcus already, the only think LA has on him is experience.
Well good sir; sometimes players don't get better with age. Sometimes a player becomes a all star; gets max and falls from the waste side like Shawn kemp or Larry Johnson. You can't hypothetically assume a player will become great from a couple seasons. You look at progression each and every year. Hell who knows. Maybe love will start devaluing with these constant injuries.
I know some players don't get better. I'm not "assuming" anything.. It's my opinion that he will continue to improve, and there are countless logical reasons I hold that opinion. I apologize if that's too far fetched for you. I'm not sure what you think you're telling me that I don't know.
I compared them in their 7th seasons. Kemp was better than Aldridge, and leading an elite team. Johnson had declined. http://bkref.com/tiny/3RW15
Aldridge averaged 18pts/G when he was 22, and it was only his 2nd year in the league compared to Monroe's 3rd. Let's not act like Aldridge was some slouch at 22.
