I posted this in the deadline thread but think it deserves it's own thread. http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/i...ndown_a_few_issues_and_numbers_to_chew_o.html Some points made. What to do with Hickson, Win to lose pick, lose to win pick, Luxury tax consequences and how that affects us trading with other teams, Olshey deadline-deal history, and etc.
Is this true? A team can still go over the cap next season 120% of his previous contract to re-sign JJ even without Bird Rights? So a team at the cap, but not close to the tax thresh hold can re-sign JJ for 4.8?
Maybe an expiring would be a good scenario for a luxury team? Clippers are in a good position. I could see us pulling off Hickson, Jeffries and Smith for Turiaf, Hill and Butler
Yes, MM. So if a team traded for him, they can technically still have their MLE AND him. However for JJ, he'd be taking a less than MLE deal, which he might not be too thrilled about. Thought I do wonder if his market will eventually settle right around that area.
Marc Stein: On Bucks/Josh Smith talk: Hawks' interest believed to start w/Monta Ellis, since Monta could play next to Jeff Teague, whom Hawks still like. Twitter @ESPNSteinLine Read more at http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#a05w6SlgwE1wpM6V.99
But he would have the choice, right? he could decline the offer and sign anywhere with cap space to sign him, or take a deal to play somewhere he wants to be for more years and more security for less?
It seems like Orlando is trying to give away JJ Redick for practically nothing. I wish we would get in on that. If we could get Redick and Gortat (not sure how yet), I would consider that a stellar offseason.
I really with the team would face it's demons and trade Aldridge for a young center and assets. Then sign Milsap in the off season.
It won't happen though. Not unless something spectacular were to present itself. I wonder if Indy would trade George for Aldridge.
He's been putting up double doubles all season long! 4th in the league. 2 more than our All Star. http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/player/_/stat/double-doubles/sort/doubleDouble 8th in the league in rebounds. I doubt fans of other teams would want their team to trade a guy like JJ.
