This is bullshit because Kobe has a "no-trade clause" on his contract. Even if the Lakers decided to go with howard over Kobe; they couldn't deal him. Maybe a buy-out; but that's an expensive buy out.

    • Chris Broussard, ESPN.com: “One of the teams Utah has talked to about Paul Millsap is Minnesota. The name of the very available Derrick Williams came up.”

Not even the Lakers could afford that buyout. His contract is 30 MIL per year for the next 2.5 years isn't it?

Howard is gone. Lakers should get something for him now or during the summer.

    I really don't get it?

Howard for Lopez makes so much sense for both teams. Can't do it straight up, but it makes sense

I agree. I think even trading him to NY for Chandler would be a good move, IMO. I bet they could get Chandler and a few other players too.

I'll give Kahn full marks for knowing it's time to pull the plug on a blown pick. If he can somehow flip that blown pick into a really good player like Millsap then good for him. The only cardinal sin I can think of in personnel is holding onto a guy for years out of stubborness or pride (see: Colangelo, Bryan and Bargnani, Andrea)

I just think it's hilarious that he thinks he can trade Roy. It's not going to happen.

Actually I think it is easy to trade Roy if you wanted to. His contract isn't guaranteed next year so you only pay the pro-rated share of the rest of this season. Plus teams know he is either going to retire any day or that they can buy him out for 70% of what is left on this season's deal.

A team looking to clear some cap space would trade for him in the right deal.

There are plenty of other guys out there who are in the last year of their deal.

Some teams prefer a guy who won't play vs one that will. And this one can be easily bought out where some other players can't.

Eh, if they're in the last year of their deal you can just cut them. No need to buy them out.

Geniuses are often mocked. Therefore Kahn likely is a genius?

What makes you say this? Why would Roy even consider agreeing to a buyout. This year's salary is 100% guaranteed. Players usually agree to a buyout so they can sign on with another team. That's not going to happen for Roy. He'd be a fool to settle for one penny less than he's owed.

I'd just like to point out that Derrick Williams has been playing very well lately. They wouldn't dare trade him right now. Better to hold onto him into the summer and see if he can continue this play.

Also, stay the hell away from Pek. :tsktsk:
