The SOP for replay in the NBA is to have the refs talk to the HOME TV truck first for replay of questionable calls. If needed they than go to the VISIT TV truck. After 3 minutes or so they came to us which never happens. You obviously saw what I was showing them! We even blew it up for them and they STILL didn't see the small amount of court between Nics foot and the line. Heard from my guy on the Laker show they they refused to blow up the play for the refs and that's why they came to me! I have NEVER heard of that ever happening! They claimed they couldn't. ALL TV trucks have this capability! That would be like you claiming you can't blow up an image in your iPhone.... when we know they ALL can! #shaddy
I'm surprised to hear this, because it sounds like they were actually attempting to make the right call instead of deliberatly trying to fuck the Blazers. So indeed, what were they seeing?
The problem to me was the blown up picture they finally showed us didn't make it clear if Nic was still on the floor when that tiny bit of space was visible. We really needed a synced side-by-side for it to be enough to overturn the original call. If he was already starting to lift, he may well have been on the line and that space was below him, not in front.
Good point! It wasn't clear to me if those were even Nic Batum's shoes! How do we know that was even Nic Batum, or for that matter, how do we know it was a human being without seeing another synced side by side shot?
The refs saw that it was a 3. They then made a decision, for reasons known only to them, to make it a 2.
When I saw more than a few replay angles repeatedly on the Laker broadcast, I immediately knew they wouldn't give him the three. Lakers will always get the benefit.
The script for this year is shaping up nicely. First 8 seed to win the title since 90's Clutch City, and so inspirational too! Win one for The Gipper!
The thing that baffled me is they callled it a 2 to begin with. In situations like that refs are always supposed to give the benefit of the doubt and then the replay there is supposed to be indisputable evidence. Even if they count it as a 3 though it would have been a hard hill to climb to win that game.
it seemed most odd to me that the ref standing about 4 feet from Batum didn't make any sort of signal on it. At least on the replays, he never put his hand out for 2, or up for 3 or whatever. Meh, whatever. TOmorrow's another game.
Referee Mark Lindsay made three calls in Portlands favor. Mike Callahan overturned all three calls & gave the ball to the Lakers. I don't think Lindsay made another call. How often does Aldridge or Matthews get upset enough to get technicals? Blazers were called for twice as many fouls while the Lakers were playing VERY agressive. Lakers got 34 free throws compared to 12 for the Blazers. Can't help but feel the refs were there to make sure the Lakers won. Bunch of Bullshit.
Who cares about the 3.. lets talk about the foul on Nic caling it a turnover on him while his arm was hit so hard it dislocated, or the bogus travel call on Jamison on his air ball put back. i knew it right then we will lose this game. Most games decided by 4-6 points. Two-three bad calls can lose you the game. There is no way in hell the blazers will make the playoffs vs. the LAL. This whole thing is scripted by the NBA HQ.
Or how about no call when Damian is taking a 3 point shot on the top of the key and Kobe bumps him at the last minute. I believe that was during the 4th quarter.
