Big guys are so fragile. Makes you wonder if the league will start to phase them out entirely.

I mean entirely.... it wouldn't surprise me if we saw more guys like Hickson manning the five. It's like the current rigors of the NBA is too hard on a big man. Guys like Yao Ming, Greg Oden, and Bogut. Andrew Bynum.

Well, the biggest part of the deal was not having to worry about Monta anymore. In that sense, the Warriors did just fine.

You have to wonder if they could have done better though.

I thought GS nailed it when they dealt him. Unfourantly that was before the full story of Boguts injury came out. From an outside perspective i like watching the warriors more without Ellis there, they seem to like to pass more now.

It was still a great deal. The way I look at it is, Bogut- if healthy- was far and away the best player you could ask for in exchange for Monta. Of course, you know one of the reasons hes even available for Monta is because hes been injury prone lately. So far hes been a bust on that front. The broken ankle needed microfracture, he tried playing at the beginning of the season, the ankle didn't respond well, and he was out for a few months. Then he comes back again and now has a bulging disc in his back.

That said, the Warriors are still significantly better off from that trade. Moving Monta improved the offense and the defense significantly. Klay got extended burn down the stretch last season while the team successfully tanked their way to a Harrison Barnes draft pick. They also swapped Stephen Jackson for Richard Jefferson and a first round pick that would become Festus Ezeli- who made GS fans forget about Udoh (also traded in the Monta deal) and has been the starting C on a W's team that was 12 games over .500 when Bogut returned.

That trade really kickstarted the success of the team in a lot of ways, even with Bogut giving us very little. Monta probably would have kept up his production as a Warrior and walked after this season if we kept him. Steph Curry and Mark Jackson deferred to him. Handing the reigns to Steph and assembling a team full of intelligent, unselfish players who can run the offense and defensive schemes of the coaching staff has really been crucial for us.

We've got another season after this one to see how this core does. But after next season Bogut, Biedrins, Jefferson, and Rush come off the books. Once we pay Utah the 1st round pick we've owed them for years we can trade first rounders, not to mention Klay and Barnes as great sweetners in a potential deal. We'll have some options to get to the next level. I like the direction this team is headed in, Monta had us stuck in a rut.

Another 4-point win. Wonder if there's been a bunch of bets around Laker wins by exactly 4 points lately.

Most of the analysts considered the Rudy Gay trade a death sentence for the Grizz, but after winning at Brooklyn tonight, they're on a seven game win streak (2nd only to Miami), and they're 8-2 in their last 10. I think we've got just as good of a chance to come out of the West as San Antonio or OKC. This team runs a hell of a lot smoother without Gay in the equation.

True, it's a soft spot on the schedule, but at the end of the day, the team's still winning. It's hard to win seven straight in the NBA, regardless of who you've got on the schedule, and they're looking better than they did with Gay while doing it.

Isn't toronto on a 5 game win streek as well? When was the last time two teams that made a trade did so well after getting their acquired pieces?

Well, they're 6-1. The only loss came a few days ago to none other than the Grizzlies.

Gay's been shooting very poorly, but I guess having him out there must open up possibilities for guys like DeRozan.

On the Grizzlies end, our offense has a lot more ball movement. Tayshaun is the perfect addition to the team in the sense that he can make shots if he needs to, but he's not going to halt the offense for the sake of his own ego. There have been a lot of great plays Tayshaun has made recently where I'll just look to my friends I'm watching the game with, and we'll all be agreeing, "if that were Rudy, he would have hacked that up instead of making the extra pass," etc.

You act like 7 footers have never thrived in this league. I remember the 90s, when you had Ewing, Olajuwon, Robinson, Shaq, and Mutombo dominating at the 5. Not to mention Smits, Duckworth, and Sabonis! The NBA wasn't too hard on them.

And remember- Oden fell apart before he even played a single game. It wasn't the rigors of playing in the MBA that did him in.
