I had started a 24hr emergency medical delivery business. Would deliver blood from the Red Cross, human tissue and organs from the airport to the local hospitals. Had to be centrally located. New business, needed cheap office space. Found the Oak Street Building. Eventually sold the business. Had (what I thought at the time was) a lot of $ and thought it would be fun to loft out a floor of a warehouse. That area was kind of dark and depressing. But dark and depressing in the big city can be fun when you're in your 20's. Especially when you can fire off guns in your own house. And chicks love lofts and old buildings. They think you're Bruce Wayne or something.
All citizens should have to give up their guns and sign a pledge saying that they think owning guns is wrong and that they pledge allegiance to Obama. If they don't, then they're be shipped off to be target practice for Our Dear Leader's daily skeet shooting. No but really, the government doesn't want to take your guns.
If a .357 "knocked you on your ass" when you were 12, you are a gurlymon. My buddy's 12 yo grandson was shooting his grampa's .41 mag last month, and he was grinning ear to ear. Said "That was awesome!" after firing six rounds into a target. I've shown in this thread and the defending the 2nd amendment thread that there is no question in any reasoning person's mind that government wants our guns. NOWHERE did I say one word about 'stocking up on guns'. Quite the contrary, I said I don't own an assault rifle, and don't intend to buy one. I just don't feel the need to tell someone else that they shouldn't buy one if they want to exercise their constitutional right to do so. When the 9+ quake hits, we'll find out how important guns will be. Do you think Bonneville was designed to withstand a 9+ quake? How about most of the high-rises in PDX? The I-5 bridge? Don't think so. They weren't even thinking about earthquakes in Oregon when was built, because they didn't have bad quakes in Oregon....or so they thought. What do YOU think Portland will be like if the dam fails, some or all of the bridges go down and half the tall buildings collapse? We just saw the result of a 9.0 in Japan, a country that is MUCH more seismically aware than we are. There are going to be thousands of desperate people. Hungry people. They will be trying to find a way for their family to make it until the government can get to them. That doesn't count the opportunistic criminals that will be looting the abandoned buildings. Why do you find that scenario hard to believe? Do you have any understanding of how bad Oregon will be devastated when the Big One hits? Or, is it just to scary for you to think about? How close-minded must one be to not understand that many other governments have done the exact same thing within the last century? That 13 Portland senators and representatives just tried in infringe on your constitutional rights? Go Blazers
Yeah, I know how bills work. When they get introduced, the top of the bill lists the representatives who want to infringe on my constitutional rights. Once the bill is introduced, then lobbyists and citizens call and write their representatives to voice their support, or lack thereof. When the hacks try to sneak shittly legislation through the process, but get lots of negative feedback, then they give up...until later. When do YOU think dissenters should speak up? AFTER the bill becomes law? Get real indeed. Go Blazers

This 'some Republican' hasn't heard 10 minutes of Limbaugh and 20 minutes of Larson in about 2 months.
Who made you the hobby police? What makes your hobby any more legitimate than hunting and shooting guns?
The classic Progressive mindset for gun control. Don't worry, zero chance. Don't be paranoid. Nobody wants your guns. None of these politicians have tried to do this before. Sleeeep, Sleeeep. The government loves us. The government will take care of us. Don't say anything next time, just stay calm. Oh, darn, it passed this time. Sucks to be you. You should have spoken up if it was important to you. Go turn in your gun, dummy. Go Blazers
a.) Your friends grandson is a fucking badass. b.) Your crazy end of the world stuff is so kooky I'm slightly embarrassed for you. Listen to some more Lars Larsen or Michael Savage or whatever gets you through the day I guess.
When is the last time you've heard of the government coming into someones house and taking something of theirs? Are you going senile?
If you are a hunter, what the hell is wrong with practicing to kill something? Is it better to kill an animal cleanly and instantaniously, or shoot it through the paunch so it can suffer until you track it down and kill it....if you can find it. Target shooting is not practicing to kill something. It is a hobby that requires good hand/eye coordination to become good at it. The goal is to make very tight groups of hole in a paper target. How the hell is that practicing to kill something? I know LOTS of people that shoot targets and don't hunt, and would pray that they never need to see how they would perform if put in a situation to defend their life with a gun. Many of the target shooters I know have every one of their guns locked in a safe, because of the presence of kids or grandkids. So, they don't hunt, and they don't have guns for home defense. They have guns to shoot targets with, because they like to do that. Well, fortunately, it's not important that you understand how I 'get off' shooting a gun. I don't understand why you get off doing [fill in the blank], so I think you should stop doing it because it's creepy and it scares me. Go Blazers
Alright guys, keep the debate fun. If you guys start firing personal insults at each other I will take your guns away and delete posts.
