I would have to agree with you. Coach K is the best college men's basketball coach. He has helped Duke become a powerhouse and they have remained in the top 3 for a couple years now.But if you were talking about college Women's basketball, I would have to say it would have to be Coach Geno Auriemma of the UCONN Huskies. I consider him to be like the Coach K of college women's basketball.

In Mens college basketball, Coach K is the standard for excellence. He is by far the best mens coach right now. I think there are some other good coaches, but they arent as good as Coach K. Here's a list of good college coaches. Billy Donovan-FloridaGary Williams-MarylandJim Boeheim- Syracuse Steve Alford-IowaRick Barnes-TexasJohn Calipari-MemphisRick Pitino-LouisvilleLorenzo Romar-WashingtonBruce Weber-IllinoisTom Izzo-Michigan St.Roy Williams-North CarolinaNow in Womens, i'd have to disagree with bballinyao06 about Gino Auriemma being the top coach. I'd have to go with Pat Summit of Tennesee. Gino is great, but i dont think as good as Summit. He's number 2 in my book.

Definitely Coach K and Roy Williams. I was most impressed with Williams though, alot of his main scoring options left the team to go to the NBA in '05-06, and they still managed to be a threat in the ACC.

al skinner anyone? BC never really had the best team, but they were always up there in the rankings. i believe they were 2nd in the ACC, and they went into UNC and beat them. something like that, im having a hard time remembering right now. they lost to Nova in a great game in the dance, so they were pretty successful last year. this year though will be tough, playing MSU and Kansas nonconference, along with the usually tough ACC schedule. hopefully we can have another good year despite not having the strength that the rest of the top teams have.

Donovan is going to be the next great ting IMO. He's a players coach but until then it's Coach K. He's done it numerous times will all kinds of different players and he's always bringing up another potential championship caliber team.

How don't you guys not include Ben Howland the coach of the UCLA Bruins?... He took a team of youngsters to the ncaa championship with Farmar leading the way. He did an oustanding coaching job with 9 freshmen on the team.

Coach K is a good coach, but every single year he gets one of the best recruiting classes and since 99(I think) he hasn't won a title. With all the talent that comes in there you'd think he'd win a title.Jim Calhoun gets talent and prepares them for the pros. He wins titles also, but look at the players that have came out of UConn. Rip, Ray Ray, Mek, Gordon, etc.

Billy Gillispie is a pretty great coach. He started off as a head coach with UTEP. The first year, they didn't do that well: 6-24. However, the second year they improved to 24-8, one of the best improvements in NCAA Division I history. He then came here to Texas A&M. The year before he came we were 7-21 (0-16 vs. Big 12). His first year we improved to 21-10 and earned an NIT bid. This last year we went 22-9, beat Syracuse and texas, and only lost to LSU by one. I'm biased to some extent, but he's a great coach, and I'm not exactly fond of all A&M coaches.coughFranchionecoughcough.
