This year we're gettin' destroyed by the opponents points in the paint. I would like to see our team have at least two good interior defenders primarily at the 4 and 5 spots.

I don't know, but he is starting to weirdly make me think of a Spanish Batum.

Come on, they have an all-time great in LeBron.

    Bad comparison.

Things would be different had they landed their #1 choice this summer: Jerry Sloan.

The Lakers are a horrible defensive team with Howard in the middle. The Spurs are a good defensive team with Tiago Splitter in the middle. Neither are because of the center. There is no question that a good big man helps and there is no question that we need one badly. But unless the other 4 positions get better on the defensive end, we will still struggle. The days of the big center cleaning everything up are long gone. It is a different game.

In the good old days, coaches yelled and screamed a lot. That's what you need to demand defense. Stern is so worried about looking dignified that he has taken the spirit out of the game.

Well, defense wins championships only to the point you score more points than the other team.

I love you to death brother. I mean it 100%, but that cliché is damn silly. Obviously that is the #1 way to win in the NBA. It never has to be brought up because if you don't score more points, you lost. There is no exception. I guess it's a pet peave of mine, when someone always says something like "Scoring more points wins the ball game".

It's like saying, well the #1 way to get a job is "to have a job"

The Defense, Offense, superstar, coach, etc. are all entangibles for a team to have a better chance to score more points. :D

Mostly true, which underscores how impressive Avery Bradley was guarding Dame. That was elite defense within the current rules. Don't think Dame could ever expend energy like that on D and still be effective running the offense.
