Dana just said Aldo told him he is refusing up flight Pettis because he doesn't think he deserves it.

I actually don't blame him. I think Lamas should get the shot. Aldo should have a voice in this. He just fought a guy who dropped weight and was given an immediate title shot.

Kinda torn on this. Fighting top contenders brings Aldo legitimacy as champion. Refusing opponents doesn't.

I don't like the way that the UFC has introduced fighter rankings just to turn around and ignore them. OTOH Aldo/Pettis is a wicked fight.

I mean a few months ago we had HW DC wanting to fight LHW Bones but MW Sonnen getting the shot, LHW Rashad Evans wanting to fight MW Silva, WW GSP fighting Diaz not Hendricks and FW Aldo fighting LW Edgar, and BW Rousey refusing to change weight to fight FW Cyborg. Everything is off kilter lately.

This fight is now on with Aldo's camp agreeing to go through with it.

Oddly there is a rumour that an Aldo win translates to an automatic lightweight title shot for him.

I wonder if DW is willing to let Jose Aldo be a champion in both classes.

^If Aldo proves to be the best in both classes, I don't see why not.

The plan is for Aldo to vacate and for his teammate Barao to move up and take his place simultaneously.
