The Atlanta Falcons were eager to pick up another receiver. Both teams got their wish Tuesday with a deal involving two former first-round picks taken back-to-back in the 2002 draft. The Falcons traded bruising runner T.J. Duckett to the Redskins and acquired holdout receiver Ashley Lelie from the Denver Broncos. The Broncos received Washington's third-round pick in the 2007 draft as part of the deal, according to two officials within the league who spoke on condition of anonymity because the trade had not been officially announced.Washington had been shopping for a running back since star Clinton Portis partially dislocated his shoulder in the preseason opener against Cincinnati. I think this deal helps everyone. Vick needs another target, Washington needs a replacement for an injured Portis, and the Broncos couldn't get Lelie anyway.
Atlanta is the winner in this deal. They get what they need, a WR and dump somebody that they rarely use in Duckett. I think that Duckett to Washington is like a slap in the face to Ladell Betts who played well when he got time last year. Still, Duckett is an upgrade over Betts, but they are the same type of runners.
Atlanta doesn't rarely use Duckett, we used him every single time we were in the red zone..He's a beast, and he led the team in TD's.
Still, Jerious Norwood looks like the real deal and the future replacement of Warrick Dunn as the starter, so you guys should be fine.
