Re: You play Doc's role - split the minutes and rotations If I was coaching this team, with this current roster, my rotation/minutes would look something like this: C: Perk (26)/Ratliff (18)/Jefferson (4) PF: Ryan Gomes (24)/Jefferson (20)/Powe (4) SF: Wally Szczerbiak (30)/Pierce (12)/Gerald (6) SG: Paul Pierce (26)/Allen (17)/Delonte (5) PG: Telfair (24)/West (19)/Rondo (5) Total Player Minutes Paul Pierce - 38 Wally Szczerbiak - 30 Kendrick Perkins -26 Delonte West - 25 Ryan Gomes - 24 Al Jefferson - 24 Sebastian Telfair - 24 Theo Ratliff - 18 Tony Allen - 17 Gerald Green - 6 Rajon Rondo - 5 Leon Powe - 4 Notes * Perk/Jefferson's minutes will gradually increase as the year goes on due to development and Ratliff being out. * Jefferson could earn the starting PF job later on during the season. * Telfair/West for the starting PG spot is up in the air, but I like Telfair there better and I see him taking it over by midseason anyway. Damn, we need to make a trade to clear up minutes/touches. I would love to play Rondo more, and Gerald, and TA. I would also like to see the occassional Allan Ray appearance. We need to make a 2 for 1 or a 3 for 2 deal, and giving up either a wing or PG in the deal. We need to clear minutes.
Re: You play Doc's role - split the minutes and rotations i think yours is about right but I would play Rondo a lot more (5 minutes??? hes like the best defender on the team along with Allen)and cut down a bit on Telfair's minutes & West's minutes

Delonte played 34 mpg last year, cutting his minutes down by 9 mpg is quite enough. And about Bassy's minutes, he needs to see the floor almost as much as Delonte because he is a true playmaker that will get our big men the ball in the right spots (which will help Big Al take advantage of his post game) and he can also drive-and-kick to guys like Paul, Wally, and Delonte. But, that is also why I made a comment about making a trade. We need to make a 2 for 1 or a 3 for 2 in order to clear up minutes and have a set rotation. We need to get rid of a PG/SG, maybe 2. We either have to give up a wing (Wally/Allen.. hopefully not Green) or give up one of Delonte/Bassy/Rondo in order to have a set rotation. Otherwise, Doc will have the SAME exact problems (that he hated) with PG - 3 guards that have to see the floor (much like he had with Delonte/Marcus/Orien). Something is bound to happen.
Re: You play Doc's role - split the minutes and rotations this is tough about this team. a lot of guys with potential to be good players, and not enough time to spread around. i'd love to see a lot of these guys get a lot of time but as we all know it cant happen..might as well make the quarters 15 minutes
Re: You play Doc's role - split the minutes and rotations Rondo only 5 mins a game? I think you've got to give him more then that. The kid might even start. The Celts love his defense and passing ability.

I think you've got to give him more then that. The kid might even start. The Celts love his defense and passing ability.</div> Again, this is why we need to trade either Telfair, Delonte, or Allen. Sure, Rondo deserves more minutes (and I, for one, would love to see him come in for 15-18 mpg), but who's minutes are you going to take away? You can't take any more of Delonte's minutes, and Telfair has 2 years of NBA experience on Rondo and also is a very good playmaker. It's easy to say "oh, he deserves more minutes" but the hard part is actually taking time away from other people (at the same position) that deserve it as well (and are also veterans). If we don't pick up Allen's option (or trade him), then that would solve a LOT of problems with minutes (Delonte would move to the 2 more and it would open time for Rondo and a little more for Gerald). But see, I don't want that to happen because of his defense. Then at the same time you can't just knock of Gerald completely because of his scoring ability and potential. Then you can't take away Delonte's minutes because he played so well last year and is probably our best hustler and also is a reliable shooter. Then you can't take Telfair's minutes away, we brought him here for a reason and he is a very good playmaker who would thrive in our running game. And even though he might not play much, don't count out Allan Ray either - he is a player. It's so damn tough. If Doc has this roster, he will start growing extra grey hair after 2 months because he would be so stressed out on resolving the minutes situation. And that, my friends, is what Doc needs - a stable and set rotation! He has only had that once, and it was only for half a season (2nd half of 04-05 when we had Toine/GP/Ricky). We need to make a 2 for 1 or 3 for 2 deal and free up minutes for these guys real bad. Give Doc a set rotation then stand pat until you have reached a high chemistry level with this team.
Re: You play Doc's role - split the minutes and rotations ^Easy. Lower Telfair's minutes to 20, and Delonte's to 15, and Rondo has 13 mins. It's true, you do have a log jam. But I bet Doc wont allow Rondo to only play 5 mins a game.
Re: You play Doc's role - split the minutes and rotations why the hell would delonte play ony 15 mpg?anyways, this would be really tough. Wally for Kmart or Boozer would make it SOO much easier tho.

That is good enough when you really look at that logjam there.
Re: You play Doc's role - split the minutes and rotations you should've clarified. i though you meant 15 minutes total.

Delonte played 34 mpg last year, he would NOT like the idea of lowering his time to 19-20 mpg. He is our 3rd best player, and he deserves to get at least 25 mpg.
Re: You play Doc's role - split the minutes and rotations okay, if i'm doc, i beg danny to make a trade to help me shorten the rotation to 8 good players. sebastian, delonte, pierce, (mystery 4), and perk as starters with rondo, TA, and gomes coming off the bench to play solid minutes. Ratliff can play a little and Green fills in garbage minutes.

I say give Al a little more time. I really want to see how he bounces back after having ankle surgery. Remember, Jermaine O'Neal came straight out of high school too, and didn't produce double figure scoring until his 5th year. Al started off faster than that, so I expect a good year here (in his 3rd year) and then having his 4th year as his breakout year. But I want to hold the bus on Big Al right now.
