Who can we realistically upgrade?

I'm just curious, with free agency, draft, trades, etc, which positions can we actually upgrade?

Maynor - I'm starting to think Maynor was a steal and I doubt we will be able to find someone as talented or as young. I think he is a must-keep.

Hickson - There are definitely some possibilities out there. The question is cost. We can go over the cap to keep Hickson, we won't be able to do such with another free agent. I'm beginning to think we should re-sign him and look to trade him before the deadline. Hopefully he keeps up this kind of production.

Matthews - this is the position I would like to see us upgrade. I like Wes, but there are some talented guards on the market this summer. I would see if we can get Mayo or Redick. Mayo would give us another dynamic scorer and take some of the burden off Nic to score. I actually like Batum as a play-maker. Let him go for trip-dubs and have someone like Mayo put up points.

Freeland - I think we need a better backup four man. Freeland has actually been the biggest disappointment for me this season. I didn't expect him to set the world on fire, but damn he has been underwhelming. I thought he'd at least be able to step in and be solid off the bench. Maybe 6 ppg and 4 boards? I wish we could dump him.

    Thoughts?

I doubt we'll re-sign hickson...and I doubt he'll command a big contract personally. If we can get him around the $7m range, we should do it, otherwise we should just let him go...he'll want starter minutes but he's basically the perfect backup 4 for us. If we could find someone in his mold for cheaper or some bruiser type that would be great.

I'm ok with Matthews, but we should try to target a 2 guard this offseason that is borderline allstar (Monta Ellis, Mayo, etc) and sort it out from there.

And anything at center would be an upgrade.
