Screw the cap space, we have some players to keep.

And we would still have the room exception

Ugh... the problem with that trade is Gordon's inability to stay healthy. He and Kevin Martin have the same problem. They're frail. I think we could do A LOT better for Aldridge.

Maybe I overrate Lopez, but I think he's exactly the player we need at center. If we could S/T Hickson for him, that'd be great, but I was thinking more along the lines of trading Aldridge for good pieces and re-signing Hickson.

As far as Gordon is concerned, I don't really know exactly what his knee problems have been. I was just looking for a deal that could net us both a big and a wing for Aldridge. When healthy, Gordon is dynamic enough at the 2 spot that he could be exactly what we need.

    Anyway, it was a thought.

IF Gordon was healthy and we could guarantee that he could stay healthy? Yes do that deal. Too much of a gamble though for an All-Star in his prime otherwise.

Gordon is money.... but he has a huge contract and the guy is incapable of staying healthy. Definitely not something we need to get ourselves mixed up in.

I would say draft pick at 2 (Trey Burkes or McCullum) , Maynor 3.5, Sammy D at 7, Matt Barnes 1.5, E. Williams at 0.8, and then add Brandon Wright for the 2.5 room exception. I would pick up Mike Muscala with a 2nd.

    PG - Lillard, Maynor, Burkes
SG - Matthews, Williams, Barton (Lillard & Batum would play a lot of back up SG)
    SF - Batum, Claver, Barnes
PF - LMA, Wright, Muscala (with Claver playing stretch 4)
    C - Dalembert, Leonard, Freeland

Aside from our current starters (all of whom I'd keep barring a good trade), I'd look to keep Leonard and Maynor. The rest are fodder.

C'mon people don't pussy out now after one really weird blowout game. The team needs a true 5 to anchor the defense and they need a little more firepower at the two guard spot. If they can keep Maynor at reasonable price then fine so be it, but they're not done.

I agree we need a center. Regardless if Leonard improves enough to start, we still desperately need one more. Not a PF playing C, but someone with real size.

And yes I agree ideally we need more fire power at the two. But I think it is more important not to lose Maynor. Damian gives us that extra fire power from the SG position if Maynor can play big minutes at the point.
So although I agree with you that we need a SG, the order of importance has shifted a little with the addition of Maynor.

Just get a defensive minded big and I think it is a good summer.
A good young SG in the draft would be icing on the cake. Don't get me wrong, I would love to upgrade both C and SG immediately, but I am more willing to be patient on the SG spot.

I'm telling you; he would be a huge upgrade and Denver would love to get rid of his salary. We could jump right on it and trade absolutely nothing and get McGee. They would receive 10 mil in te. Then we grab hickson and resign maynor. Job finished!

Karl is a good coach with experienced players, but with the Sonics he got Wally Walker to adopt a policy of always trading their #1 pick. He can't teach fundamentals.

Olshey installed a coaching staff specializing in doing just that. McGee would finally learn the game.

Regardless if Leonard is the starting center next year or not (no way in hell he should be) we will still need a defensive center. Re-signing Hickson does not accomplish that at all. No playoffs and no draft pick means we will have 15 million if we renounce everyone. 5 of that would be Maynor's cap hold. so that leaves 10 million until he signs then about 11.5 million. You might be able to get two good bench guys for that, but doubtful, and fo those saying we would have the MLE, I'm not sure that is correct? For some reason I thought teams under the cap don't get the MLE

Just enough to give Denver the te for McGee!
