The bummer is that they give up a relatively low salary quality pick and get hit with what will probably be a large veteran salary. It's a pretty big change in their salary cap situation. Of course, they're paying their starting QB not so much, so maybe they're just using that flexibility.
Gonna be an exciting year in the NFC West Boldin to the 49ers for a 6th rounder. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9040950/baltimore-ravens-trade-anquan-boldin-49ers-pick-sources
He's not a top-5 receiver....yet. Certainly has the potential, though. Niners counter the Hawks move by trading a sixth-round pick for Anquan Boldin. Boy, these teams are going to be TOUGH in 2013.
Haha. I blame ESPN Scorecenter, or whatever that App is called. I was on a call w/ one of our Execs and my phone blurts the Sportcenter breaking news sound.
Unsure about boldin to sf. A 6th is cheap sure, but 6 million for boldin when he duplicates some of what Crabtree does is a head scratcher. I'd rather have offered moss 2-3 million to stay
Huh? Take the 49ers goggles off. his contract counts 7.5 million and last I checked the niners are close to the cap. Boldin is talented for sure, I just thought the niners need a vertical threat, which boldin is not. What am I jealous of? Im a raiders fan...my team sucks bad.
I was joking anyway. But the way you were on Harvin's jock, I figured you had to be a Hawks fan. I don't understand how people wouldn't like this move, though. Dude is an awesome WR. We gave up a single 6th round pick for him. The Niners are so loaded with picks this year, and have extra picks in 2014 and 2015, also. Crabtree is becoming more of a vertical threat now, anyway. I'm not real worried about them being too similar.
Yeah, there's really not a whole lot to not like about that deal. Is 6 million too much for Boldin? Maybe. But if you have the space, and no other pressing needs to fill with it, then the 6th for him is a steal.
Not a hawks fan. I do like lynch, Wilson, browner though. I loved harvin last yr on the vikes. I love ck7, moss and Vernon too. no doubt boldin is good, but he is a spendy 7.5 million on the cap. The niners should be spending that money on a corner. I thought it was great hearing they are going after Sean Smith today
Basically trading Alex Smith (and his contract) allowed us to pick Boldin up. So, let's see.... Pretty much adds up to Boldin, a second-rounder in this year's draft, and a 2nd or 3rd in next year's draft for Smith and a sixth-rounder? What's not to like? Crabtree, Boldin, Manningham. Plus, Kyle Williams will be back, and he was just kinda starting to come into his own. I'd be worried about our receivers not touching the ball, but we now have a QB who can throw the damn ball.
I didn't believe it until I read the news on ESPN. Anquan Boldin for a 6th round draft pick. That's a steal for the 49ers. I'm liking the trades they're making to improve their team!
@JayGlazer: Seattle sends this years first round pick and a 7th rounder as well as a mid-round pick next year for Harvin. Win-win for both teams
