After both careers are over who will have had the better one? Arenas will be the better scorer but paul will be the better point guard. Hard to predict. I will think of it later.

I'm taking Paul. OLook at the #'s he posted in his rookie year. He is much more of a pass-frist pg, and I would much rather have him running my offense than Arenas. Arenas may score alot of points, but Paul will be the best pg in the NBA in say, 3 or 4 years.

In 2 or 3 years, I'm taking Paul.

Arenas doesn't play good defense or pass well. I'd take Paul since he is a catalyst for any team he's on. The stats favor Arenas but the chemistry of the team favors Paul.
Both are real nasty point guards and all, but I'd much rather have a guy like Chris Paul run my team then a Gilbert Arenas type player. I think Gilbert holds the ball to much for a point guard, but Chris Paul is good at moving the ball within the offense, and getting plays going. Gilbert Arenas has the scoring edge, but I think Chris Paul has the edge over Arenas in terms of who is the better point guard.
Gilbert Arenas is a great player, but other than scoring he doesn't do much for me. Chris Paul is a real PG that can lead a team...blah blah blah blah blah...and so on... They are a lot closer than people realize right now... 2005 - Arenas - 24 effciency rating 2005 - Paul - 21 effciency rating
paul is a great all around player, and really impressed me as a rookie. dont get me wrong, arenas is a great player, but chris paul will be a great all around and versatile point guard for a long time to come..im going with CP3

I agree he is young though, just your statement was an exagerration by 2-3 years. And there are not too many senoirs anyways.
I would take Arenas, sure it's Chris Paul's sophomere year coming up, and he's already made a huge name for himself as the up and coming PG for the NBA. However, wasn't it Gilbert who didn't have a name for himself and improved massive amounts and is still improving massive amounts every year? You guys remember that he's young, but don't seem to remember his shocking improval every year, just look at the numbers. First year in Goldenstate, 10/2/3. Second, 18/6/4. Third in Washington 19/4/5 (keep in mind that this year he was part of a new orginization). Washington 4th year 25/4/5. And this year, the year that really got his name out: 29/3/6. He's explosive on the scoring, and you all say that Chris Paul will be better, he'll be close don't get me wrong he's a great young PG but CP3 will never be the scorer Gilbert is nor come out of nowhere and improve so greatly, in so little time! BCB, are you saying that Gilbert can't lead a team? Don't you remember where we were without him? Now we have GoCelts saying he's a ballhog? If he was a ballhog, Jamison and Caron wouldn't be averaging 20 a game, he wouldn't have those 6 Assists along with the fact that number should raise because we dont have Jeffries here to miss layups for us. Gilbert, isn't selfish, an example is when we played Knicks late last season. The Knicks were all over him the entire night and he knew others could accomplish more. 13 assists that night. Arenas's passing isn't a problem however I do have to give defense to paul, thats not Gilbert's thing. You think just because Gilbert is an explosive scorer he can't runt he offense? You're wrong.
This comparison is like Apples and Oranges. Chris Paul is a pass first point guard and Gilbert Arenas is a shoot first point guard. If your team lacks scorers than I guess Arenas is the better option. If your team already has scorers than Chris Paul is a better option.
