Re: Dirk scores 47 in win over Angola! Man Dirk will be tired next year. Hopefully fatigue doesn't show up in the playoffs. Dirk needs a break.
Re: Dirk scores 47 in win over Angola! What's up with that response mavsfan. That's all you can say after this performance by Dirk. Geez, great game for Dirk, this means a lot to him and his country. If this tires him for this upcoming season, I'm not going to hold it against him for trying to lead his country to a medal. That is bigger to him then a championship. Also, I'm not worried about fatigue considering he's done this before and is not the only one in the NBA going through this.

Also Dirk has never played until June. He usually has another month off or more. Time will tell if this effects him. I would just hate it to effect a possible championship this upcoming season.
Re: Dirk scores 47 in win over Angola! ^^ lol he's a professional athlete..he doesnt whine about having to play and doesn't get as tired as you think..he loves basketball and lives for basketball..if he was worried about getting tired he would of sat out the world championshipshe has plenty of time to rest before the start of the season and the mavericks are going to know how to approach that when it comes time tocongrats to dirk on this great gameand how would it affect a possible championship?the NBA playoffs dont even start for another 8 or 9 months..he plays games like this all the time..i dont think because of a couple extra games and some traveling he's going to give up on the mavs

If Dallas wins a championship it is because of Dirk stepping up. I think long term fatigue could set in. If he starts feeling it during the playoffs than he might go in a slump which could lead to the demise of the mavs. I wouldn't mind if it was just a role player playing for the Olympics but Dirk needs to be at his top level for Dallas to win a championship.

He still has done this before in the past, and it's his decision. But for him to play for his country and try for a medal is a big deal for him and not to you. And he's not going to sit back and take a minimum role in the path. Also, like I said before he ain't the only player doing this. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>He's the best player for Dallas. I for one see no problem with this, he's playing the game he loves for his country. How about showing some actual pride for Dirk instead of saying this will ruin his NBA season because of fatigue, which I highly doubt will occur.

Your faulting a guy for playing for his country because you think it hurts your chance as a fan to enjoy a championship. Selfish.

You have a way in twisting something that I never said. I want the mavs to win the championship and though Dirk has pride in his country they are unlikely to medal with Spain, Argentina, and USA ahead of them. Dallas though has a good chance and probably the best chance ever to win a championship this upcoming year. Why take the risk of getting injured or fatigued in the FIBA games that are likely not going to succeed instead of resting up and work on his strength which will likely make him even more dominant next year. I'm sure others feel the same way.
Re: Dirk scores 47 in win over Angola! Wow! What an impressive game for Dirk. Should help out Germany a ton. But, there were overtime games. So subtract points from then and he would be around 30. But, still very impressive.

Your just bitching because it hurts the Mavs chance of winning a championship. Again a selfish attitude. Newsflash, all these NBA guys playing in this tourney are going for a Gold medal and only one of the teams is going to get it. So their all risking injury and fatigue along with Dirk. Yet no one else is bitching. How about you shut up about the risks and actually amend Dirk for what he's doing.
Re: Dirk scores 47 in win over Angola! I let everyone else do the Dirk is great comments. My concern is on the mavs. It is great that Dirk is doing well for the Olympics as long as he doesn't show fatigue next year. If he can take it than I'm fine with his decision.

Re: Dirk scores 47 in win over Angola! Rok, shut up please. he never said Dirk shouldnt play for his country, he said "i hope he doesnt get tired"
Re: Dirk scores 47 in win over Angola! I feel both sides of the argument. I'm happy that he's playing well and working on his game, but at the same time he is one of the most invaluable players in the league. I wouldn't mind him taking the offseason, well... off, but he can do whatever he pleases as long as the Mavs approve.

He doesn't get that the same risks are involved in the NBA. If he gets tired or hurt, were going down but at least it's understandable as he's playing for what he wants and his country. It's not like a Jay Williams accident. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>No I did not. Everyone has posted up updates and box scores. Their not biting their fingernails over injury.

I only said that it might be a concern that he plays so much. You can twist it whatever way you want.

I only said that it might be a concern that he plays so much. You can twist it whatever way you want.</div> How am I backtracking with that comment? Yours is the only complaint I've heard about Dirk playing. You brought up other Mavs fans sharing your same concern over injury/fatigue and I said I haven't read any of that on other boards. They've posted box scores and posts detailing what Dirk has done and most of them are hoping for him to lead Germany over USA. Your the one backtracking, as your saying Dirk should not play much or at all, so why should even be there? You rather see Dirk rest during the offseason because he won't medal or might get hurt/fatigued. That's basically what you implied this whole thread. Now your saying I haven't said anything bad about him playing for his country. Yet you rather not see him play for them because it hurts Mavs. It's not twisting words, I mean look at the beginning of this topic. Instead of congratulating Dirk, you basically critique and complain he's playing too much.
