They'll probably go after a younger PF during this offseason. I doubt they'll attempt to keep Granger with the emergence of Paul George. Unless Granger is willing to take a massive pay cut.

I agree with all of that but teams have shown a willingness to cripple themselves in the future if they think they have a shot at contending

Why would the Pacers trade Hibbert? He's one of the best defensive players in the league and seems to be a good fit for what Pritchard/Vogel are trying to accomplish in Indiana.

    Money.

That's the only reason. They will be maxing out George here in a year or two, they still have Granger under contract, and I guess they'll be making a decision on West this summer. Indy is a small market without an owner like Paul Allen. Can they afford three max players?

No way would they have three max players. But isn't granger coming off before they pay for George?

Btw George is from where I live

Granger expires after next season, and West is a 32 year-old free agent who isn't a max player, and had never made more than $10 million in a season. They can resign him relatively cheaply, and then worry about George once Granger is off of their salary list.

I'm not saying they'll max West, just saying they'll probably have to max George sometime in the next year or so, they'll still have Granger until his deal expires, and they'll have Hibbert. Anyway, there were rumors they were having buyers remorse about giving him a max deal. That's the only reason why I threw his name out.

I am wondering why they are having buyer's remorse with Hibbert? He's on a "cheap" max deal, and he's the perfect defensive center for the slowdown game Vogel likes to run.

Who knows... probably just some stupid rumor that was floated by a writer.
