Interesting clip, I wonder what exactly those students were protesting. He maybe got a little bit out of line his anger, especially considering he's a professor there. But I do agree with what he said, and why he was angry. Don't illegally immigrate to a country then demand rights and services, don't immigrate to a country and bitch about it, period. Especially when the one you came from is much worse. One of the girls said "He" was oppressing them, and I assume she meant white people in general. That is an ignorant and racist viewpoint, and should be challenged.
Actually there is quite a bit of racism of that ilk. I seen many comments along those lines, that white people are evil or bad. They just look at British Imperialism , and the Americans taking over Indian land, and draw this conclusion that whites are bad, and browns are oppressed. If you only looked at those cases in history, you might come to the conclusion that skin color is the reason why whites took over. But once look into history of those who were conquored or enslaved, you'll see that they themselves conquored and enslaved others. I don't know what this particular group was protesting, but based on the professors comments, I wonder if it was along those lines. If they are bitching about not getting enough social services, they an go piss up a flag pole. Illegal immigrants from mexico receive billions of dollars in social services. Why would someone illegally immigrate to a place that oppresses them?
Yeah, but not the degree that would warrant your comment, or the "poor victim" mentality that certain white people have.
A vary large amount of white Americans are racist. And a lot of them deserve to be called a devil. All immigrants should have the exact same rights you and I do.
she said that i am the devil, i am the evil that destroys this world but these words only empower my god complex, they prove my worth, they set me on fire so that i may burn as a martyr for all who question follow me to freedom edit: dude seemed drunk, no?
Ummmm. Says lots of people actually. I had to hear that in my ethnic studies classes at osu. White people dont know racism because the majority can never understand racism. Or so they said, in addition to other terrible things.
? Illegal immigrants should get nothing. People that immigrate the right way should get all the same benefits.
I think you're naive if you think that racism stops at being white. A large amount of people are racist. Period. Racism doesn't stop at the color of your skin because the term race encapsulates a lot more than just the color of your skin. All immigrants do not have the same rights as you or I do. A lot of immigrants don't even have the same rights as illegal immigrants who cross the border from Mexico. They have it easy compared to the people who are smuggled into the country from China and used as indentured servants to pay off a huge debt to get here. Those people are forced into sweat shops on our own shores, they are forced into prostitution, but we should feel sorry for the Mexican and South American immigrants who walked across the border, right? I get so tired of hearing the people from down south who whine about rights when all they did was walk across a border. How about all the other people around the globe who want to come to this country? They don't have the advantage of bordering America, so they have to either wait the long period of time to come here legally (and many do), or they have to make unbelievable and disgusting sacrifices to come here here illegally. This is a link to a site from an immigration attorney. http://www.litwinlaw.com/CM/Articles/How-Long-Immigrate.asp It says that if you have immediate family members living in the United States, it might take 9-12 months to immigrate legally. If you have any family in the US, it might take anywhere between 10 to 15 years to immigrate to the US. My sister has a friend from Romania who did just that. They waited 10 years to come to America. So tell me, why should we feel sorry for these people who didn't have to wait that period of time? There's a reason why there is usually a great sense of pride for people who immigrate here legally and gain their citizenship. They had to wait a very long time and they earned their spot at the table. They didn't get to walk across a border a demand the same rights as any other American. Sorry, but I have zero pity for the immigrants from the south. They can come and go as they please. Many of them migrate to and from America. They raise money up here and then travel back south. They've got it easy compared to others.
If you are here illegally from Vietnam, they will not send you back because you have political asylum. This is true for many immigrants from various countries. Mexicans can not claim political asylum. They are not better off than many other illegal immigrants in this country including illegal immigrants from Cuba and Iran. Seems a little backwards too me . . . BTW-that adjunct professor was an indiot. Taking someone's phone and trying to negotiate "I will give it back if you erase the tape." Whatever side you fall on with regard to immigration, the professor was a bully and an idiot.
I didn't even watch the video because I don't care. The guy was obviously an idiot because he was dumb enough to get into a confrontation with people. I do not agree that Mexicans are not better off, simply because they won't be deported due to political asylum. Those immigrants won't be deported because if they go home they could be killed. And are you really comparing the journey of someone across the Mexican/American border to someone who had to make it from Cuba to the US or from Iran to the US? I'm not saying that the journey from Mexico to the US is easy, but when you compare it to Cuba or Iran.... good god it's not even close. The point is that most immigrants have a much more difficult way of getting here, legally or illegally. If they are granted political asylum, it's for a reason. If they go home, they will most likely be killed. People from Mexico can go home. They can migrate to and from the United States for work if they so choose.
